Tolton's Aaron Rowe tranfers

First, it was private schools attracting players from public schools, now prep schools are attracting private and public school players. As a traditionalist, I don't care for the trend.

I hear you Razzy. As much as I enjoyed watching Link Academy last year, I'd rather have watched Tarris Reed and Damien Mayo play for Chaminade.

It would be interesting to see where all these guys who go the prep school route actually end up in college. I'm sure it helps a few. But I'd bet the majority end up at the same level they would have anyway. Prep schools used to just be for the elite. Now, just like summer travel teams, people have figured out they can make a ton of money from it and they've popped up all over the place. I don't care for the trend either.

I've been wondering the same thing. A bunch of juniors, seniors and post-grads panicking because of the extra 5th year and transfer portal. There is always somebody there to capitalize on uncertainty. It's one thing to get scholarships to these places, but if these parents are being suckered for $15,000 and up, that is just a shame.
I've been astonished at how little discernment parents have over all these people feeding them lines. No different than a car salesman most of the time.

I'm sure part of the sales pitch is that they are going up against great players every day in practice which will make them better than if they were going against mostly average players on their public or even private school teams. And that they have 8 or whatever coaches all specializing in something, fitness trainer, etc... Hell I've seen that on a few private school teams.

Those are legit sales pitches. as well as the prep teams getting more attention from colleges, but I also agree that a great player isn't gonna go unnoticed by colleges if they are playing for a public school team. If anything they may even get more attention since presumably they will stand out, with their stats being better than if they were on a prep school team.

Not a fan of the "prep school movement" at all. But it is giving some Private Schools a small taste of what public schools have gone through for years when their players are recruited.
