To put what happened at NKC this year in perspective...

Really nice season by NKC...but man, Central hasn't won a game in three years. Not sure it's really comparable. Again, both WAY down. But 0 for 30 is a severe kind of down. Not meant to take anything away from NKC. They really did have a fantastic season. Have to love it for those kids. Would love to see the Central kids experience the same!

Seriously, no winning seasons on record... since 2004. I mean this is coming out from oblivion. Yeah, Central going 0 wins for three years is a little more extreme, but their records look a lot alike. This is NKC:

2017 3-7-0
2016 3-8-0
2015 3-8-0
2014 1-9-0
2013 5-6-0
2012 5-6-0
2011 2-8-0
2010 3-7-0
2009 1-9-0
2008 2-8-0
2007 4-6-0
2006 5-5-0
2005 5-5-0
2004 5-5-0

NKC 47 wins since 2004 SC: 28

Am I the only one who is not really that impressed by what they did? Sure Price is a stud and was one of the best RBs I've ever seen and that DE is a legit big 10 player BUT they TIED for conference... A mediocre conference at that... Then they beat a bad Park Hill South team, THEN got smacked and I mean smacked by Staley. Don't get me wrong, going from 3-7 to a playoff win is a good turn around but they didn't play any team worth a hoot all year, except for Staley. I know "they can only play who's in front of them" but lets stop treating them like they were a Netflix worthy documentary.

They beat a team that was in the state Finals--um, Fort Osage. The team that was the Runner-up for the state championship. First winning season in 15 years +.

Give credit where credit is do... Coach Douglas and staff did a real nice job bringing this team along. The fact that their strength of schedule was down is more a reflection of Class 5 in the KC area. The gap between the haves and the have nots continues to widen.

Dig a little deeper and look at the scores in that Central schedule. It's scary. NKC at least was moderately competitive in some games during their really bad years. Central can't say that. Then again, the level of opponent NKC is playing is pretty salty compared to what Central is playing.

And NKC beat a team that was in the state Final. You know, the second place team in Class 5.

I'm a NKCHS grad ... and I agree.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Fort Osage dramatically improved from their loss to NKCHS to the championship game. But then again ... Fort O did dominate an elite Oak Park team in a 7-point win the week after losing to NKC.

THE TEAM THAT WAS 3RD PLACE IN THE CONFERECE, WAS 2ND AT STATE. Yes, the bottom 4 teams were bad in this conference, but the top 2 only lost 2 games.

Once in a generation win over Fort Osage...Oh, no big deal.
Are you new to KC football, dude? I can remember when Fort Osage was horrible. I mean, they were so bad that even bad NKC teams could beat them. I remember an away game at Fort O where we had more cheerleaders than they had football players (and that was post-2000, i.e., this generation). Quit treating Fort Osage like they have a tradition like Blue Springs or Rockhurst; they're a long way from that.

Things go in cycles, NKC was better than Fort O in one game, and Fort Osage struggled for the first half of the season (you seem to have missed their domination of the powerhouse known as Oak Park). If Northtown can be over .500 for 3-5 years, then people should start talking more about them. Until then, let's just say they had one quality win over a struggling Fort Osage team and the rest of the season was just above average (yes, not above average for NKC, because their average is really, really bad, but average in general). And it took multiple D1 players to get them here. Don't oversell this.

What was NKC's record this season against teams that finished with a record at or above .500? I looked for you; it was 1-2. The one point victory over Fort Osage was the one win.

Nkc had an awesome season. The issue will be sustaining it. But they deserve a ton of respect having that kind of a season in a school district that has basically turned a blind eye towards the domination of one school to the detriment of others.

NKC caught the Fort at a time when they were totally beat up with injuries. By the end of the season, they got healthy with the exception of their leading receiver.

Yeah...elimatethe past three years, and even then, Central has been worse. Yikes.
It really is bad thing. And worse yet, they just joined the Ozark Conference this year. The OC was as bad as it has been in quite a while this season, and Central wasn't anywhere close to competitive. I can't imagine it's going to get much better. I can't speak much to their football players, but I'll tip my hat to their basketball players. I've seen them a few times the last couple of years. They compete the entire time and seem to be really respectful kids. It can't be easy. I'd love to see them gain some success in the coming years.

They had a Chrisman 2016 type of season built those kids for a few years and did a great job, schools like chrisman, truman, and northtown will have a great year once in a blue moon truman in 2015 was good

Thanks for showing how clueless you are about what Fort has as a program. Shall we review:
In the past 10 years: 2 State Championships . 2 Runner-ups at State. 8 out of ten years ranked #6 or better in Class 5. So what you "remember" doesn't mean a damned thing. What Fort has done and been the past ten years is a premiere football program. Thanks for playing .
