Now that most HS fields have turf so we dont have to worry about wearing out the middle of the field is it time to move the hash marks closer to the middle of the field like the NCAA? Lets make the D coordinators work a little harder.

Most high school fields don't have turf.

I would think maybe 1/3 of high school fields have artificial fields

I would be surprised if half of the schools have turf. The bigger schools or the ones with money will have it. There are schools out there that don't have a 25 sec clock.

how about we just go to flag football and shorten the field so the little guys don't bash their brains in or get too tired

I think some folks live in a bubble that only includes the catch-all class 5 teams, the 32 Class 6 teams, and the Class 4s with turf.

The Joplin metro area has a mixture of teams in all 6 classes & 8-man and over half of them have turf.

6: Joplin (Turf)
5: Carthage (Turf), Neosho (Grass)
4: CJ (Turf), Webb City (Turf)
3: Granby (Grass), Seneca (Grass)
2: Diamond (Grass)
1: Jasper (Grass), Sarcoxie (Turf)
8-Man: McAuley (Turf)

That was a different thread. So I assume the guilt is getting to you. I wouldnt be ordering any new equipment for next season though.

You understand what sarcasm is or are you always a whiny bitch? Duck walk is a football term. You should probably change your name to princess_prance

McAuley, really? How did they do last year, or the year before, or the year whenever they punted football (must've been the turf). They tried to play for a couple of years on MSSU's field. lol..

Sarcoxie could be the only Class 1 program with turf in the state?

Granby hasn't had a team since the Vietnam war. Point is.. the overwhelming majority of schools from class 3 down are grass fields. The turf fields are growing in numbers, and I guarantee Pierce City (and every team that plays the bears) are jealous of Royce Stadium in Sarcoxie.. The turf fields are safer, and when they become cost effective will take over the high school game.

There are quite a few class 1/2 teams in our area that play their games on turf- knob noster, Warsaw, Lincoln, sacred heart but the majority of small schools still play on grass. My question, is that really why hash marks are wider in HS?

did not know that. guess I knew about Warsaw's, being from pierce city and all. ;)

All of the PC Eagle's games are on grass next year in the regular season..
