New coach, new offense, new system, no problem! Lee’s Summit senior quarterback Corbin Berkstresser looked right at home under the direction of new Tiger head coach Eric Thomas, opening the season leading the Tigers to victory with a huge week on the gridiron.
Berkstresser completed 12-of-15 passes for 312-yards and connected for 5 Tiger touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed 15 times, gaining 112-yards and adding a rushing touchdown in a 57-23 victory over William Chrisman.
Named as the Class 5 MOsports.com Player of the Week, Berkstresser who has committed to attend the University of Missouri looked confortable in his new system.
“I think the transition has gone pretty well”, commented Thomas. “Corbin is a bright kid and a competitor that wants learn. Corbin has shown great leadership through this process so far.”
The leader of the Tiger football team on the field as the field general and off it as providing veteran senior leadership, Berkstresser is prepared to make the most of his final prep season.
“Corbin is a good football player that means a lot to our team.”, added Thomas who felt the honor given to his quarterback was a credit to his entire teams performance on the opening week.
“To say that he means more to our TEAM than anyone else would be unfair. Corbin could not of had the performance he had last week without his teammates”
A solid performer in recent seasons head coach Gary Pinkel and the Missouri Tigers signed Berkstresser based on his ability now and his outstanding potential.
“Corbin has verbally committed to the university of Missouri. I believe that his future is very bright due to unbelievable work ethic and leadership. Corbin has a lot of work to do, but is up to the challenge.”
