off to another great start. They didn't lose a game last season until the Final 4 where they lost to the eventual champions from NW West Fla. They won their first 15 games this season before the Christmas break then came back and beat Wallace St. Alabama to go to 16-0 on the season. They have most of their roster back from last season and have a couple of kids that would be familiar to the MoSports crowd. Karlee Holland from Licking was on the team last season but had shoulder that kept her out of the lineup until that last game before the Region 16 Tournament. She played in every game in the post season and played quite well. She has started every game this season and is playing well again. They also have Kourtney Kendrick from Booneville who comes off the bench and gives them good minutes. They play at a break neck pace so just about everyone that is healthy plays. Chaylea Mosby from Dexter came back but has a issue that had kept out of any practice or games. They were hoping she would make it back this semester but I was told at the last game when she started doing activities again her back is not better so probably won't play. She was the Region 16 POY last season and a 1st team NJCAA All American so that's a big loss but they also added some very good freshmen players so hopefully they can keep rolling during Region 16 play.
I forgot to mention they were ranked 8th in the preseason poll and have moved up to 3rd. The 2 Florida teams ahead of 3R are in the same region and will have to play each other a couple of times so 3R could move up if they stay undefeated but it won't be easy to do that again in Region 16 and have no slip ups in non region games too. Just hope that covid issues don't crop up too bad across the region so they can finish season in normal fashion. And hope the injury bug stays away too.
