Romney would have been better off saying that in public and admitting it's a problem instead of getting busted via video talking to rich people and acting like not being able to relate to the 47% is perfectly fine.

I wouldn't hold Romney up as a paragon of tough truth telling. His opinions changed with the wind like a lot of politicians.

The donors and establishment believe in immigration reform as a policy goal and an existential position for the party in the long run as America becomes less white. They will never change on that issue.
