Had it happened to a white dude I don't know whether I'd have been as frustrated as when I watched the video, because I'm wondering if this will ever stop. This same crap would have happened to a white dude if he was the same size and copping the same attitude.
By all accounts the player wasn't a jerk. Never raised his voice and cooporated in every way. Now keep in mind he was double parked in a handicapped space which is how it all started. #millionairelivesmatterPolice man was a jerk, player was a jerk. What do you think is going to happen when you cop an attitude and don't cooperate. Bullcrap. Just be a polite, decent person and this doesn't happen. Was the use of force excessive? Yes, I think it was. Did it have to happen this way? No. This same crap would have happened to a white dude if he was the same size and copping the same attitude. It's not a race issue. It's a decent human issue. Same with the gun issue. It's not a gun issue, it's a human issue. Raise your kids to be decent humans and this crap goes away.

Dont listen to Joe. Im sure he is already a 6 pack or so deep. Are you calling ME a snowflake?

That's how I would handle it, sure. How he approached the situation hardly warranted the police response however. Fact is, he never raised his voice nor threatened the officers in any way.He took on an attitude, immediately. What if he would have immediately taken an apologetic stance? "Sorry, officer, I know this isn't the way you should park, I was running in here to do "x". I'll move the car right now.?

Of course, had it happened to a white dude I'm not sure we'd have ever seen the video and I'm pretty sure NFL players wouldn't be taking knees during the anthem to bring attention to it.
Sad times. But thankfully so much better than the 60's. Shouldn't get tased though if you're outnumbered six cop cars to one guy and were never a threat.
I get part of what you are saying. Police, especially in urban areas deal with a ton of difficult situations. I sure couldn't do it. However, this higher standard you refer to HAS to apply to those in power, and all to frequently lately this isn't the case. I hate where we are as a society compared to when I was growing up.Oh, I agree with you on the response. It was clearly overkill. He's no small person, though. As a professional athlete, he also is not a common, citizen. Like it or not, you have to be held to a higher standard and will be scrutinized. Start out being a decent dude and not copping an attitude, immediately. Let's think about it from the police standpoint for a second. How many times are they confronted with this kind of crap from someone who does mean them harm?
Idk if it happens all that much more frequently now than it ever did. We just hear about it quite a bit more with all of the available mediums. IMHO of course.I get part of what you are saying. Fairly good chance that if it happened to a white dude, you'd have never heard about it. Doesn't fit the narrative or get as many clicks. And before anyone gets their pitchforks out...The police were way off on this one. Can't react that way if there's no combativeness. Can't imagine they ever felt threatened.Had it happened to a white dude I don't know whether I'd have been as frustrated as when I watched the video, because I'm wondering if this will ever stop.

They likely wouldn't have felt pressure to release it if it were a white dude. The police released the video. Not a bystander or media trouble makers.
The media ran with the video, which was the point. The police released the video. Not a bystander or media trouble makers.
