Earlier this week, St Joseph Lafayette girls beat Kansas City East 61-0. Yes, 61 to zero.

I played in a game like that one. Eighth grade. Lineville, Iowa. Leon beat us and we didn't score. In our tiny gym. (Old timers, think Martinsville.) And I have to be honest: They didn't try to beat us 50-something to 0, it's just that we were gawd-awful bad.
Is Lafayette better? I watched them last season at Holiday Hoops and they were horrible.

Lost a game 77-11 one time. Team pressed like a son of gun. They were good, made it to final four and got 1st or 2nd. We weren't bad but not near as good as them.

Saw a few 60/70/80-something to teens/20-something in my two yrs of coaching girls. Bad girls basketball can lead to some really ugly scores even when the better team isn’t trying to make it ugly. Even more noticeable at the lower levels. If there’s a big gap, it seems magnified the younger the level. Man, I hand it to those girls that keep showing up. That’s gotta be rough.

Another example. Carl Junction sent its freshman out to play the Nixa varsity tonight. Not only that...but CJs 2 best freshman don't even play for the freshman team. The final score was 95-4. Nixa stopped pressing pretty early so they deserve no blame. I am not sure who thought this was a good idea.

Carl Junction entered their freshman team into their varsity tournament. Their varsity team plays later tonight. Probably had to do that to get to 8 teams.

It technically says JV but it was actually the freshman team minus the 2 best freshman
