Not much. But here are a few.

1. When an announcer says “that was an ill-advised pass”. So you are telling me a QB holds the ball until someone tells him where to throw? NO! Stop saying that. No one “advised” him to throw there.

2. Doc Guys

3. When you design a beautiful trick play. You come to the LOS and see it’s going to be wide open. In your mind, you are already starting your “TD strut” and then the ball hits the receiver in the face mask or Timmy goes the wrong way or Biff forgot he was supposed to line up off the ball.

4. When people can’t say trick play and have to say trickeration. Uggggh

5. Doc Guy memes

6. When you complete your pregame, head for the locker room and have to sit there for the longest 15 minutes of your life.

7. Doc guy treatment of All-American Gerry Bourtier. Travesty.

8. Women announcers on football games. Stop it.

9. When a former player for a football team is on the announcing crew for a game in which they are participating. College or NFL.

10. When one of the officials Immediately knows a call was missed and won’t huddle with his crew to fix it.

We made the list fellas!! And were not number one!! But for your information Duck, Gerry has passed away. He couldn't be a Doc Guy.

I don't so much mind the older gals with the husky voices who more believably follow the game ... as long as they maintain some dignity. It's the dozens who have shown up in the last few years who bother me ... the weather gals and the 28-year-olds who don't even KNOW Broadway Joe sold pantyhose!
Not that there's anything wrong with attractive 28-year-olds ... that should just be a different show, a different channel.

Hey football might need some more attractive 28 year olds to save it...

It doesn't need saving. The 10 highest rated television broadcasts of 2019 are all playoff football games.

The narrative of football's demise is highly exaggerated. But CNN and ESPN have to do something to get ratings and push for the expansion of soccer into the United States.

The precipitous drop in youth football numbers speak otherwise.

6% drop over a 10 year period nationwide? I mean yeah it's bad in some areas, but I still think the "death spiral" is overblown. Especially since participation in virtually all activities is down over the same period.

I think it will get much worse with all the evidence coming in. JMO.

The "evidence" is one flawed study that had a conclusion before it had a hypothesis. There are other studies that show cheerleading is more dangerous than football.

Idk, I'm not saying football isnt under attack, but it's not going anywhere either.

Participation is down no matter how you spin it. Webb City is going from 3 youth teams back to 2 Lamar does not have enough players to field a 6th grade team. These are two very successful programs where you would thing success would equal to youth kids wanting to be part of that success but not so. I know 10 years ago we were averaging 130 kids 3-6th grade we now struggle to get into the 80's. With all that being said I don't think you can lay all the blame on the concussion studies I do think it keeps some kids out.

This year we have a few kids that are not playing in youth, and when I spoke to them and their parents about why they are not playing I don't hear from them they are afraid of injury, what I hear is Little Johnny just got done playing 120 baseball games this summer and he is just tired, or we wrestled or played basketball in summer leagues and we just want to take time off or he is going to do such and such sport. Or we believe he has a better chance of succeeding in such and such sport if he concentrates on that full time. Early adoption of Specialization is killing participation numbers, and it is killing youth sports and leaving many kids out. Summer rec ball such and softball and baseball is dying, our numbers in those leagues are down over 50% leaving only those from the poorer families or maybe fringe talented left which just drives the numbers down, because those kids don't want to participate because the talent drain. You have year round basketball wrestling, it is insane now, all in the hopes that little Johnny or Marisa will succeed at a higher level if the parents throw money at the kid with private lesson and year round participation. And who can blame them because college prices are on the rise so some parents hope this is their ticket to not paying for college. Plus it is a social thing for some parents as they try to get certain kids on their travel team so they and their kids can rub elbows with the status elite.

Year round sports such as Wrestling, Softball, Basketball & baseball are now a Million dollar business and they look for ways to suck parents and kids into doing more and more to get more of that money.

We have documented the reduction in HS football players over the past decade numerous times. Barring some sort of miracle resurgence, HS football hay days in Missouri are well in the past.

However it is not all genders, every year more girls are playing the sport. Boys participation is the only number going down. Which makes you go...WTH

How many kids are playing either football or soccer??? I would almost bet total participation in both forms of “football” is up.

I have a feeling some kids who know they will never step on a football field on Friday night are playing soccer where they may have a better chance of playing

Some kids are playing soccer because they can start almost right away, versus having to either wait till their senior year or put in a little more work and effort to see the field in Football.
