I think the thing that gets lost in all of this is she did it to supplement her crappy pay!! Missouri teachers are still some of the lowest paid in the Nation and because of that we are losing teachers many to other states. My oldest teaches in Kansas and makes almost $25,000 more a year than they could here in Missouri!!
For Two years now my child in Monett schools has had an uncertified teacher teaching the class because they cannot hire or find certified teachers!! I wonder how that affects their learning, well I know how it does. Missouri we need to increase our pay end of story!!

A lot of that will be up to the districts. Surprised there is that much difference between Kansas and Missouri for your "kid". The average is only about $2000 difference, according to numbers from last year.

Not sure where you are getting your information? Average teacher pay in our Area is $38,000, In Kansas $52,000 in the area my child teaches. According to Mint.com who is bases that on data provided by Turbotax.

And guessing by your reply you think we pay teachers enough here in Missouri?

Not at all... Just saying, teacher pay jumps are going to have to come at the District level

Average teacher pay is not at $38,000 in the area or the Big 8, that might be the average STARTING pay... but that has increased as well, that is now the minimum at most schools.

And school districts are all over the map with pay in both states....
Heck, my brother in law is a superintendent at a district in Kansas and makes less than many teachers in Missouri.
