Why do you guys keep saying say we have open borders? Every time I see the numbers of those arrested at the border it goes up, I think it was 300,000 last month, then the numbers that have been returned also goes up. That is NOT an open border that is the Border Patrol doing heir job. How are we supposed to keep people from trying to get in? Millions have been sent back so the border is NOT open. This being sent all over the country by the pub governors were here legally seeking asylum and supposed get a hearing on their request.

Our economy was damaged in 2020 with historic decline of - 3.4 GNP in Trump's last year. Sorry Pete, you can't sweep that under the rug. Not saying it was Trump's fault, it was covid. We were still dealing with restrictions across the nation until mid 2021. Supply and demand problems. Then the gas gouging. The economy has been in trouble since 2020 and it cannot recover in 15 months. Gas prices going down will help every aspect of the economy. The mess is global and all due to the covid pandemic.

You'll get no argument on the border from me. I've been a hardliner on shutting down the border since Reagan granted amnesty and the promise to close the border. We now have 16 million illegals in the country, each one costing the taxpayers $10,000 per year in US gov aid. I'm an advocate of using the military across the border in addition to walls in high traffic areas, drones, electronics, but we have to have boots on the grounds. What better training ground than the desert!
 
can you tell me where you got this information? Do you mean an average of $10,000 instead of “each” which means every illegal?

We now have 16 million illegals in the country, each one costing the taxpayers $10,000 per year in US gov aid.

Have you included the taxes all the illegals are paying into our system or the value of their labor adding into our GDP or the SS withholding from their checks that they won’t get back? This sounds like a statement straight from the Heritage Foundation.

I do not believe they are taking into account their contributions. As a retired gentleman I am receiving my PSRS pension and a small SS check. So I am costing tax payers a hell of a lot more than $10,000 and so are millions of others. And I ain’t contributing squat to our economy.

I put money into PSRS and SS I am entitled to receive, it's not a gift. And I am still paying income tax. I spend money at businesses and pay bills. I pay property taxes. So I/we are still contributing to the economy.

COVID has played a part in it but Biden's energy policies are a huge reason we haven't recovered and they've driven us deeper into recession. We are at a 40 year high in inflation! We were energy independent. Biden shut down multiple supply lines including drilling and he did it like he was a conquering king to show Trump he could reverse all of his policies. I'm not sure where people are getting the price gouging nonsense from oil companies (maybe CNN). Higher energy prices affect everything so the price of everything goes up. Investment people I deal with say in the meetings with their high level investment people two things will dramatically change the economy, one, an change in the energy policies and two, a major Republican victory this November.

The immigrants are also paying taxes. Income taxes. Sales taxes. Property taxes. And fees, just like us.

Your school district matched your PSRS contributions using tax payer money. So your pension is sucking off the government teet. Leech.

Your entire teacher salary came from tax dollars. And your health insurance. So that PSRS contribution you made came from taxes, bruh.

If Biden’s recent moves are the cause of inflation then what has caused inflation to strike all over the globe? This is a global issue. Things that have occurred the past 6-12 months are not the driving force behind our inflation rate. An economy this huge moves like a glacier. It took years to get where we are right now.

Cutting taxes while the economy was booming is one of the many things that triggered our problems.
 
So we're both leeches, bruh!! My tax dollars count the same regardless of who pays my salary. It's money out of my pocket to the gov., and a portion of my taxes are being used to support illegal people. And how many illegals are being paid cash and not filing taxes? I would guess plenty.

They pay taxes. They buy groceries. They buy furniture, TVs, phones, clothing, etc. They go to restaurants. They pay rent. They spend significantly more on consumer goods than is spent on them by the government. That seems like a net economic benefit. Perhaps you just didn't fully articulate what you meant.
 
We need agricultural workers and hospitality workers right now!!! They are having to overpay for those jobs so our hotels stays are costing more and more. So is food. It doesn’t seem complicated. They are good for Murica according to the conservative US Chamber of commerce (from 1980 to Trump)—

The IRS reported that 6 million undocumented immigrants filed taxes and paid federal, state, and local taxes. That' out of 14 million illegals!! The Congressional Budget office estimates the number at 50-75% of illegals pay income and property taxes, which indicates that millions are being paid cash under the table. Also, we have over 1.5 million illegal children not paying taxes and benefiting from US social programs. Not to mention the criminals entering the country.

I can't believe you all don't see this as a problem!!
 
What I see as a problem is corporate billionaires buying their own senators and representatives and literally having their lobbyists write our laws. Millionaires getting PPP loans forgiven is the problem. Pharma tweaking drug formulas so they can continue to charge absurd prices is the problem. Epipen and insulin price gouging people are the problem. $2500 for an MRI on a machine that was paid off 15 years ago is the problem. Invading Iraq and blowing a cool trillion is the problem. Government officials not respecting our electoral process is the problem.

But Trump, his squad, and Fox keep bringing up immigrants to distract you away from our real problems while they rob our asses blind. It works. And small town America gobbles it up.

President Lyndon B. Johnson:

“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

This “open border” nonsense is meant to do one thing. Give you someone to blame and look down upon. It’s a tried and true strategy.

I will agree immigration is way down on my list of problems, too. My position on immigration has not changed in my entire life. You must enter the US legally. There are laws to enter this country at a port of entry with proper identification, just as I have to do when I enter another country. As I've said a million times, "What part of "ILLEGAL" is so hard to understand??"

Of course the majority of busts are at the port of entry - that's where the roads are, the most people crossing subject to checks, and ,the most agents, Yet the Border Patrol and DEA will say they may catch 1 in 10 smugglers. Don't kid yourself that we are winning the war on drugs, especially fentanyl. Listen to the people living in border towns talk about the cartels in control across the border.

That's true about the war on drugs, of course; it never was winnable at any point in history.

Yet according to the Fox/GOP clowns the Mexicans are bringing drugs over in record numbers because of Biden and it wasn’t nearly as bad with Trump. 1. It ain’t the Mexicans 2. It ain’t any worse than it already was. 3. They say shet with no proof and it is repeated over and over as fact.

If they are lying and exaggerating that, you know they are exaggerating a lot of topics. But keep repeating everything from your perch 1,000 miles from the border. I guess you can see Mexico from your porch.

But the trucks caught at the border are hauling TONS of it, the "mules" the Border Patrol catches might have a hundred pounds.
 
Fentanyl comes from China, meth comes from China. What border it comes over is unimportant.
 
Meth is not easy to get raw materials for like it was previously. Hence, the vast majority of it is imported. The trailer on the edge of town is now full of copper wire and catalytic converters.
