The NO EMOTION Lamar/LN Pick’em Thread...

They have left the starters in on multiple occasions with 40+ point leads against teams that have zero chance against them. That’s what I mean by karma. Don’t believe I said anything about a blowout.
But when you lead 42-0 after one quarter, wasn't it okay that they let their starters play for 12 minutes? I mean, come on, the kids deserve to play for at least a quarter. But when you score an average of one touchdown every two plays, it's kind of hard to take the starters out halfway thru the first to avoid running up the score.

Go Lamar!!!'

If you can show actual stats of games from where this happened I would love to see them! I've been actively following them since around 15 yrs including the years my son played during those 1st state championships. I might not make every game but I don't miss listening to it if I'm not there. There is one particular game during regular season when a team will what I call 'disrespected' our field when they came out. I remember starters being left in longer than normal but I felt their was a definite reason for it, or that's the way I saw it.

Next week is tough and I'm still back and fourth on it. I've seen us pull it out before....I honestly thought we would lose to Trinity last year....and the MVL game the year before.....

I never said they werent. You have to be usually to be as consistent as they have. But to say they are more than your opponent when you havent seen your opponent is pretty clueless

They are. I have seen Liberty North and they are not my opponent. I’m not from Lamar. Feel free to disagree if you want.

I thought the karma comment was over the top. I bet some of those vasity kids were draggin' their wagons a bit yesterday by the end of the game... because they NEVER see four quarters of football.

I wasn't impressed with Lutheran North much other than their defensive line and their QB. RB is only worth a damn if he gets into open space and that won't happen much against Lamar.

The state championship game was played yesterday in Ava.

I'll take Lamar in this one 42-14

You better hope Lamar's players don't believe they played The State Championship Game last Friday. Because if they do, things are going to get out of hand REALLY quickly.

Which game did you watch and which RB impressed you? There are 3 with 1000 yds and 4 with 10+ TDs.

I don't think any Lamar folk actually think the Ava game was the championship. Since the preseason everyone knew this semifinal game vs either Trinity or LN would likely be the decider

I've seen Lamar play multiple times over the last 7 years. I expect them to show up ready to play, for them to flood the stands with their fans and for the team to play "Lamar Football". They're going to run the ball, play a defensive scheme that keeps the ball in front of them and they'll expect to win. With 6 consecutive championships, they've earned respect ... but no one they're playing on Saturday fears them. I expect Lamar fans to be loud and to be respectful. I don't know many people that can say they won't be anything but that.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. Lamar wears the crown and any team worth ANYTHING wants to square up and take it.

I thought Lamar would beat Ava but to be honest, I thought it would have been by 21 or maybe even 28. I think the weight of carrying the torch of an undefeated streak can begin to weigh you down. Bailey finds a way to both relieve the pressure with some levity this week while refocusing on the fundamentals and playing to win for fun. Lamar by 7.

Welcome back, crusader_2. All this jabbering about who'll do what... We're going to watch 2 high school football teams play each other for a chance to win a state championship. They're gonna be high school kids doing high school kid stuff. One of the teams is gonna win. They'll shake hands and that'll be it. Good luck to both teams. Prayers that neither team suffers any injuries .

I am going to write off the close win to Ava and stick with Lamar just because well they are Lamar. LN might end up throttle Lamar but I just believe Lamar while maybe short on talent has alot more to play for than LN. They have town pride, they have huge fan base, and well they have the better coaching staff. They might not have all the D-1 offers that LN has but they play better as a team.

Someone said earlier that sportsmanship was easy with success. I would just like to note that this is mostly false.

Good sportsmanship, good attitudes, healthy humility, and even school spirit are NOT automatic with success.

We all know people who have enjoyed success and are unpleasant to be around. Maintaining your dignity and sportsmanship after large doses of success has to be intentional. And, it's mostly taught.

Message Boards are really all about supposition and emotional picks, which is fine. None of the comments online about cheating and recruited players, claims of superior coaching, sacrifice and teamwork, the last 6 seasons or games that were played prior to Saturday matter.

No matter the outcome, I expect the only voices making excuses will be in this forum. The kids will line up and settle it on the field. The bus loads of fans and the 70 kids on the sidelines can cheer, but the players on the field for both sides know what's coming. One team will run the ball better than the other and one team will stop the other's run game.

Whichever team does those things the best on Saturday will advance. It's the only motivation that's needed. All the bitching and moaning about what rules people don't like is irrelevant.

Spoken by someone who hasn't done any homework and from pure emotion. I have watched practically every game for over 20 years, and every game for the last 10. Lamar used to play their starters for the first half and the first drive of the second half. They would then line up JV an Freshmen. Typically they would have the starters run out of bounds on the second half first drive. On the rare occasion they left starters in, it was (I believe twice) due to the other teams remarks, or conduct during the game and was to purposefully send a message. This season we have seen JV and freshmen on the field early in the second quarter some games, and countless players running out of bounds on break away plays. You know sh**, and embarrass yourself by even placing such an asinine comment. Grow up and try to bring some value to the conversation.

He’s clueless don’t worry about it.

Assuming LN hasn't added five more ALL-PRO'S to the line up... Lamar's smash mouth football and disciplined play will wear LN down. They have not seen anything like it. Tight for a while, but the Tigers pull away in the second half. 42-14

Looks like me and you have the same score prediction. Let's be friends. :D

First off, I'm not from Lamar, nor am I affiliated with anyone from that community. Just have a lot of respect for what Coach Bailey and the Brotherhood have built over there.

Second off, I watched the Trinity game.

Third off, lets not act like LN plays a gauntlet of a schedule.

In their conference only 3 of the 7 teams even have a winning record. And that's including Lutheran North.

My opinion is that the championship was decided on Saturday in Ava. Not speaking on behalf of Lamar, their players, or any other members of their community.

And as I stated earlier, with the schedule that the Crusaders have played, don't really see three-1,000 yd rushers as being as impressive as it would in say..... the Big 8. Or the SCA.

It's still impressive, but I would say it would almost come with an asterisk next to it. Much like Valle Catholics schedule, they're a very good team, but play sub par competition 85% of the time.
