The NFL is a joke.

Was he not down at least where his knee was on the 2 yd line ?

He hadnt been touched. So he wasnt down. He didnt bobble the ball making the catch. He bobbled it when he was laying untouched on the ground and reached it out over the goalline. Maddening.

and it led to a Patriots victory... wow, isn't that a surprise huh......

"Receptions are like pornography. You know it when you see it."
To requote Justice Potter Stewart from 1964 but, Duck, I could not agree more.

per NFL rules it was the correct call. And the Refs applied it nearly the exact same manner yesterday against Chiefs in Chiefs-Chargers game. consistent. As for Romo-he is a below average analyst, I saw it on the first reply. It was "fresh" in my mind since it cost the Chiefs one yesterday. PS: It's just a game, quit blaming the refs, blah blah, that is what I hear from others as a Chiefs fan. (Holding Left tackle....

Romo is better than all of the color guys. The NFL is awful, exhibit A is that call.

Yes. That is the rule. And its stupid. Dez Bryant. Megatron. Jesse James. They all three caught the ball. Reaching the ball over the goal line is a "football move". The ball is over the goal line in his possession. This ground thing just gave New England homefield again. Uggggghh.

It was the right call. and something needs to be done about it. The going to the ground rules really need to be looked at.

Honestly, I like it. The WR in the NFL earns an average of $2,000,000.00 If we factor in that 1/3 of them rarely see the field, then I'd guess the starters average closer to $3,000,000.00 (just a guess) SO if you earn 3 million per year then CATCH IT without any doubt. When they land and it bobbles THERE IS DOUBT. College=fine, high school=fine, BUT not in the NFL. Catch it clean or it is not a catch. Sorry....not sorry, you are supposed to be the best in the world and you are paid significantly better than the average hard working person. (& I do not want to hear how hard they work out, 1/2 of most football coaching staff 's work out all the time BECAUSE THEY LIKE TO.)

I would love to see a Patriots team from today play the 1976 Raiders with the rules from back then. Brady would be in shock at the hits he would have to take. I don't think he would make it through the first half. Because throw it in 2.0 seconds, he is still taking a hit every play.

Ted Hendricks would lay huge hits on Gronk...the receivers would have d-backs all over them, being physical.
Skip Thomas, Willie Brown, and Jack Tatum would be knocking the living sh*t out of the Patriot receivers.

Would love to see those guys try to line up against the teams of today.

The refs this year have been by far the worst in recent memory. They need to go full time...

Speaking of sucky football. The "best division in football" disappeared like a fart in the wind.

GRIEEEEEEEEFS

• New England’s Brandin Cooks caught a 25-yard touchdown pass with 23 seconds left to beat Houston 36-33 on Sept. 24. He caught the ball with both feet in the end zone but lost control as he hit the ground out of bounds. It was ruled a touchdown, and the NFL did not overturn it upon review.

• New York Jets tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins caught a 4-yard touchdown pass against the Patriots, and fumbled through the back of the end zone once he crossed the line. It was ruled a touchdown on the field. Riveron overturned it. The Patriots got the ball at the 20. New England went on to win 24-17 on Oct 15.

Add the Pittsburgh call and thats a nice 3 game streak.

The officials on the field (the “lower court”) ruled the James play as a touchdown. Once that play was set for review, as I understand it, the replay official has to analyze the play using the standard of “indisputable video evidence” that the call on the field was incorrect. Thus, the replay official should not be looking at this play to see if a catch was made or not. Rather, the official should be looking for “indisputable video evidence” that no catch was made. In this situation, while the ball does move, it is absolutely not indisputable that it was moved because the receiver did not maintain possession. The replay official should have upheld the call due to a lack of “indisputable video evidence.” The NFL did not actually follow its own rules in making this call.

The Pats would crush them. There’s no comparison in athleticism.

Yeah...since the fastest recorded 40 yard dash in the combine was in 1985...I'm sure guys back then weren't as athletic. I'd love to see how "athletic" Brady would be after getting continually hit by Otis Sistrunk and John Matuzak? Bahahahah

Its no worse than the Dez Bryant catch that "wasn't" against Green Bay in the playoffs. Just bad all around.

Dude you're tripping...........

NOT A CATCH, the ball moved, end of story. How many of all you all complain about today's world or "give them all a ribbon"? That is what you are asking for. NFL player did not CLEARLY complete the catch but give it to them anyway. It is my opinion that the rules are 90-10 for the offense, why make it even easier.
