are coming from the U.S. government. Military cuts will be in the thousands over the next couple of years just at one base/ town in NY state. Much more nation wide. I don't recall the name of the base or the town but it will face cuts of 15 to 20,000 military folks and several thousand more civilian employees. That's around 40,000 people, or 1/3 of the population, they could lose when you count spouses and children. When the military boom was on this town was building motels and housing and schools at a breakneck pace. When the cuts come they could have all that with no one to use it.

Maybe one of those "job creators" could take advantage of the existing infrastructure and workforce & trickle down to the rest of us.

So let me get this straight. You're taking a shot at the private industry in a post regarding government lay offs?

I'm sure more of our money will go into this community to prop it up.

I find the layoffs troubling. The military is one place a young person can go for employment, opportunity, and to better themselves, in addition to serving their country. However, 40,000 is a drop in the bucket for the largest military machine on the planet.

It seems obvious to me he isn't "taking a shot at private industry". Since I have reading skills I can tell you he is taking a shot at the Republican premise that giving the top 1% tax cuts doesn't create squat. If you were paying attention the last 10 years you would know the repubs have used the term "job creators" repeatedly.

You can read alright, but the thinking part is lacking.

Really because what other job creators are there besides the government? You can read alright, but the thinking part is lacking.

You didn't understand. It's OK kenken.
I helped you like a teacher aide with the special student.

I completely understand his back handed response. I guess you just can't see the irony in him ripping the private sector(nevermind trickle down economics), when obviously a bloated section of the government can't prop these people up anymore.

That's cool, making special need jokes. Your community is proud of it's local educator, that I am sure.

I know my work helping kids doesn't match your contribution to society at the machine shop, but I have to be realistic.

Ha true. You were such a vital asset to this community we had to let you leave and move back across the miller switch, just to spread your infinite wisdom to the future generation.

Amazing how many times per day that Kenny has time to post on here while at work. Between Mosports and texting his buddies, I'm guessing it adds up. I see it all the time with kids checking their phones and texting while they are suppose to be working. Our children have lost the work ethic. Time for another break, Kenny. Grab your phone, get a soda, and relax a while. You have a long day of posting and texting ahead of you. Pace yourself.

This post is full of comedy.

1. If you seen my phone you would realize it would be pretty hard to text with anymore(oh and I rarely use the book of faces these days)
2. I average what 10 or so posts a day on here? Does that take more or less time than your watercooler or smoke breaks?
3. I don't drink soda.

I'm here from about 5:30 to 4:15-4:30 everyday except every other Friday.

Kinda ironic though, what are you doing now?

Sure didn't take long to reply. Like I said, no work ethic by kids nowadays. Pace yourself, son, it's a long day on the internet.

I bet you had to walk up hill both ways in shoes with holes in 12" of snow on a daily basis too huh?

This is exactly what I was talking about. Sorry Kenny, swing and a miss.

Bogey that is only one base and one town I saw the story about. These cuts will be taking place across the board in the military complex. Ft Campbell, Ky is expecting to lose 4000 soldiers, that's not even counting any cuts in civilian worked there. I don't have a clue what it will be nation wide but you can bet we'll hearing more about it over the next few months.

According to myself and Duck,

The ultimate responsibility lies with the Commander in Chief.

Too bad all these good people are losing their jobs.

If only we could use our critical thinking skills to actually elect someone that had the ability to run this country.

??????? Any ideas ?

Prime Time Sanders.

Ditto, Ducky. Remember, most had not heard of Obama or gave him a chance a year and a half before the 08 election. Bernie is different than the other carbon copy candidates, and gaining momentum daily.

Bernie is a long, long shot. And with the money being heaped on Bush and Clinton I am starting to get a sick feeling in my stomach.

Ag the Commander in Chief put out the sequester proposal with cuts so bad it was intended to make congress vote against it. Even though it had a LOT of military cuts in it republicans chose to cut off their nose to spite their face and allowed it to happen. According to the article I read this military downsizing is due to post war cuts, NOT the sequester. Those cuts come at later date.
