rumors---Bernsen will get the Moberly job---Glash is close 2nd at Moberly---Spoonhour helping there also (Charlie coached at Moberly)---Jay Spoonhour pulling out all stops to get SMSU-WP(his dad is heavily involved)---he will get and take the West Plains job--for a year or two--he is a big timer and will not be in WP long--Moberly is currently going through interview process (supposedly w/5) West Plains begins next week with four --if they all make it to that process -- some say Jay already has the job--anyone have better info?? juco-guru ??

Just not sure Bernsen is your answer, he may prove me wrong and best of luck to the former Viking mentor.

Glash looks like a good, solid pick to me with a good track record for winning and recruiting pretty good atheletes. His Blue Knights have always competed well in games against West Plains.

We don't want to compete with West Plains, we want to beat them by 40. No offense WP fans, but we do. Now that we've done it once, there's no going back. We're greedy.

Dang Jack - Do I detect a bit of cockiness in your message? You could go back to the days of Coach Hayes and let other people beat up on you again, you just never know! However, given Moberly's success and players right now, very unlikely that that might happen again no matter who is the new head hound.

Re: the FINAL calls- NO TO MARK BERNSEN

Funny you mention Mike Hayes.................GREYHOUND FANS BEWARE Let it be known that if the Administration chooses to hire Mark Bernsen, everything Kenny Seifert and Pat Smith have done as coaches to revive this program will all be lost and we will revert back to the "Days of Hayes". Please don't let this fatal mistake happen.

Winning begets winning, as the saying goes...

I believe I read somewhere that former UCLA coach John Wooden would not sign a player whose high school team lost more than two games his senior season. That's how important Wooden felt it was to have winners on his team. I don't know a lot about Coach Bernsen and I'm not from Moberly, but SEMO and UMSL have not done a lot of winning of late, and that would make me leery.

My personal vote (and this is just my biased two cents and loose change) for the next Hound coach would be Jim Glash. He's a great coach (similar to Coach Bess in methods), plus his Olney Central teams are consistent winners and played for the Region XXIV title this year and in 2001 (that year, OCC was the only team to beat eventual national champ Wabash Valley, and at WVC no less).

Let's assume we are all bias about certain or any player. As had been said take a look at the un-biased scouting reports. Tyler may get more coverage playing for a larger School and high profile AAU team, however the the Jay's have a higher profile Coach and have been to state many times. Alston has every opportunity to show what he can do this year. I wish both players well and the recruiting war's will tell the story.

I wouldn't put much money on Bernsen. Glash was impressive, however, the others interview Tuesday, Wensday and Friday. Think a lot of people are waiting to see the young man from Mechanicsburg, PA.

If Spoonhour gets the job at WP, it will only because Charlie really pulled some big strings for him. Jay did not interview well, from what I heard. The other 3 coaches were very impressive compared to Jay.

West Plains fans, wouldn't you rather have a good coach instead of just a high profile name?

OutLknIn, do you want someone who can coach or who can interview well? Jay Spoonhour has already proven he can coach. How many available coaches are there who have won a national championship? At the juco level I don't think interviewing well is necessarily a top priority. In fact, if that really is a problem, you might retain him longer than if he did have great communication skills. Don't get me wrong, I believe it can't hurt to have good communication skills it just isn't at the top of the list for a successful coach at the juco level.
