someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe, thanks to St Joseph's Open Enrollment policy, we had something unique this weekend.. brother and sister on two different teams, both in the championship games. St Joseph Benton Girls Daejah Bernard and Lafayette Boys Diego Bernard are brother and sister. Anyone know if that's happened before?

I wonder which district they actually live in (I know St. Joe has open enrollment but I believe they have busing districts for each school). Lafayette's girls would definitely benefit from having Daejah on their already solid team and Benton would benefit from having Diego on their team. Benton finished 2nd to Lafayette in districts.

Benton girls definitely benefited from the 1,000pt. plus scorer transferring from St. Joe Central last year. St. Joe is a "unique" set up.

I didn't know they had a transfer from Central. Which girl was that?
Any place that has open enrollment is playing by a different set of rule than the rest of us. It is certainly an advantage for those who are good at recruiting good players to come to their school.

The Williams girl I believe, scored 17 in the state champ game and led them in scoring often. The older guard other then Bernard that started, but I could be wrong on the name, a girl or two transferred last season from Central to Benton.

I didn't realize that. I wonder if she had to sit out 365 days. I did notice in the post-game interviews they mentioned she was not on the team 2 years ago when they went to the final four. I guess I assumed she was a jv player as a sophomore.
