I can't knock at all on CJ Webb "district of dread". For me, I follow C4 closely in the area of North Missouri and KC area, the two games Kearney-Laffeyette and PC-Smithville "district of death" are the most intriguing games in years.

If you look deeper into what's sure to go in the minds of high school football players. It's the MEC versus the Sub Conference Blue. This has happened many times past years, but this is more even than I expected. It's more City Slicker vs the Outliers feeling than in recent memory too.

My questions are will Smithville be intimidated by the high flying Pirates? Will Smithville rollover at the first sign of adversity? Will they get bullied? On paper, this game should be close. It's the inferiority complex that Smithville seems to need to overcome. It's not the talent, paper scores and statistics or coaching IMO. I think PC wins this one unless Smithville can muster up a good old-fashioned team effort and not be intimidated, and play all out.

I tend to think the same for the crew at SJL- Kearney matchup. If both MEC teams go 2 and 0 that would be sumpin. I'm leaning that Kearney will come out of this one, on paper Kearney seem to have found their way again and SJL found a way to lose to Maryville. Kearney is a similar demeanor team as Maryville. Will they get bullied by Kearney?

Kearney and PC will roll and the showdown will be on to see who gets to take on the almighty WEBB. The key to the Kearney/PC game is which team is healthier this time of the season.

the almighty WEBB? Perhaps. But the almigyty Webb has to get through Carl Junction first.

Smithville overcame one mental block this year by beating Maryville for 1st time in 10 years. Unless they can control huge blocks of the clock and keep PC on the sideline I don't think Smithville Secondary can hang with PC wideouts. 27-24 PC

Lafayette has the 2 best athletes on the field with their running back and QB. (RB had 3 touchdowns in 1st 10 plays of game against ES then they sat him rest of game) But Kearneys Def/off lines going dominant line of scrimmage. Logic says Kearney. But I'm going for upset of year. Lafayette 35 Kearney 34. Think Kearney kids overlooking this game for big rematch with PC.

Untrue on both counts about the Lafayette RB.

I would be disappointed if Webb lost to cj but not shocked. They are pretty similar teams. I'm hoping for a snow storm when they play

Kearney secretly has one of the best RBs in the area and he's only a junior. The key for K is, just like every game this year, the O LINE. If it plays like it did the second half of the PC game the Dogs will roll this one. The other key is avoiding a slow start. It got them in trouble vs. Raytown and was fatal at Staley. Last year was 59-7 K. Not sure it will be like that but expect a 3-4 TD win.

Your logic makes no sense. Kearney kids could care less about a rematch with PC. They've won 14 out of the last 15 against them. They just want to win. They take every game, one game at a time.

Top, I always respect your opinion on all things football. Curious as to what you think is the strength of the Kearney offense. I’ve seen 2 games and came away less than impressed.

The first two games I saw I totally agreed. Then the PC game happened. I simply think the teams they are currently playing are not nearly as good on the lines as a few in the regular season (the benefit of scheduling up). Their #1 strength is the JR back Connery. The QB is a big question mark but another JR who shows flashes of excellence IF the O Line gives him time to operate. They have a couple of good WRs, too. Now do I feel this is a title team................nope. Can they advance to a fifth consecutive semifinal? Yes given the immediate competition level (District 7 looks to be down this year).

If the running back had 3 TDs in the first 10 plays and then sat the rest of the game, how did he finish the game with 4 TDs on 14 carries?

Exactly. He played all the way to Lafayette's last offensive play.

Ok asshats... I just repeated what the broadcasters said on TV broadcast.

1. He did have 3 running TD's in "his" first 10 plays in first half. Scored a 4th at end of 2nd qtr.

2. When Lafayette went up 35-14 early in 3rd qtr broadcasters said he was on the bench that whole series and next. I assumed he was being rested for next week's game.

3. When game got close again in 4th qtr he did come back in for a few plays. So that part i was incorrect.

Thankyou for correcting my mistakes.

Not trying to be an asshat; I was there. Lafayette only had 2 3rd quarter possessions, and he was in (and getting carries) on both, not to mention both possessions in the 4th.

Flint liking your post is just this side of a badge of honor.

SJL is a solid team. ES pretty salty. Box score indicates ES stormed back from being down big. Neither team had the luxury of sitting a player out. The announcers were obviously not dialed in.
