As I looked at the final state ranking in class 2 basketball I noticed that Lincoln is listed as a SWMO school (by the 'highlighting).

How is a team north and east of Adrian considered SWMO?

Mullet?
Cole Camp is as well and they are farther north. Interesting.

Just noticed Rich Hill got votes. Not highlighted. How in the world is Cole Camp SWMO and RH isn't?

Although MSHSAA is an oft maligned topic on this board, I will point out that that Lincoln, Cole Camp and Rich Hill are all in the MSHSAA Central district and not the MSHSAA Southwest.

The air waves must magically bend to avoid Bates county.

Ozark Sports Zone shouldn't be referring to their coverage area as SWMO anyways; they cover the Ozarks, which are more than just SWMO. The one beef I have with them is they really don't cover all of the real Ozarks either; they're not much for covering Jasper, which geology maps indicate is still in the Ozarks, as the Osage Plains begin 4 miles or so west of town where the limestone ends and the sandstone-base picks up. Yet, they will cover Lamar, which is not in the Ozarks. Oh well, confusion reigns with today's media coverage.

Welp, went in and looked at the highlighted schools. They didn't even highlight Joplin Thomas Jefferson, who plays in the OZARK 7 Conference. Interesting.

Any school close to Joplin they don’t cover as much even with conference connections to the Springfield area.
What makes it even more confusing is the number of schools they cover in the pigskin previews.

They sure cover webb.
Guess it gives some folks a feeling their area is really good if they only cover the 'good' programs that are actually out of the area (read Lincoln , Webb and Thayer)

I’m not disagreeing but who else is going to cover Lincoln and Thayer? Winning and conference associated to regions blurs the big thick line.

sedalia? Jeff City? Columbia?
Who covers Adrian?

Nobody.

And that's ok with me;)

There was a time, it was around 2006 that our state was divided into 8 districts and actual district teams were chosen. That was back when we were a real state, a respectable state (non-political statement). Those districts were determined by county (though not as accurate as my regions).
The point of the previous paragraph? None really.
I never thought I'd refer to 2006 as the good old days. Then again I never thought someone would consider Lincoln, a proud member of the Central/KC region part of SWMO.

Here is the county map that the television stations use to determine what counties are in their tv market. Guess what Benton and Oregon counties are in the Springfield TV market. Guess why KY3 covers Lincoln and Thayer. Because they are in their market. And yes the tv markets on the borders over lap each other, that's why stations from two markets might cover the same school. Some of you are just petty miserable people.

Ah yes, that explains why Rock Port is always getting coverage from the Omaha World Herald and not the News-Press.

where did you find this colorful work?

I've always thought that south of Highway 54 from Kansas state line to Camdenton, then draw a straight line from Camdenton to Rolla and then straight line down to Thayer, was SWMO. So that leaves out Adrian, Rich Hill etc but it includes "BFE" lol

If BFE belongs anywhere its SEMO, but thats why its BFE. Neither wants to claim it.

South of 54 highway... correct... The rest ...trust the map.

The teams that are invited to the Pink and White/Blue and Gold tournaments (which are always SWMO teams with one or two teams from out of the area, at least in the Pink and White) and the teams that are featured in the Ozone preview guides coincide with what I just said. They include Rolla, Thayer, West Plains, ELDO, Camdenton, etc... so "wrong" or not, that's what the boundary is.

Otherwise, we need to appoint a Missouri Geography Czar to straighten this out for us
