The last 10 years in Class 1-3 SWMO has won 20 of the 30 state championships.
5/10 Class1
7/10 Class 2
8/10 Class 3

Any ideas why 1 region is so dominant? All regions play AAU and have camps and so on. Just curious.

Someone said it elsewhere, but the fact that the Springfield area has had the Courts and Fieldhouse over the years has contributed. And some of it is just long established tradition at many smaller schools.

Courts is now being used for volleyball of course but the new arena in Strafford is now open and my understanding is that Mt Vernon is about to get a state of the art basketball facility

How many different teams?

In STL area and much of the east side of MO, volleyball is a more popular sport for girls. For instance, the Mineral Area Conference has had one state champion (Park Hills Central in '15) in 40 yrs of girls basketball.

Just for arguments sake let’s take those three teams out. That leaves SWMO 7/18 of the remainder of those championships. Is there another area that grabs seven out of those leftover 11?

side note: Crane was the only team to beat Skyline in playoff basketball the 4 years Crane won. All at State.

Let's take all the SWMO teams out. Now they have no state championships the last 10 years in Class 1 through 3 ;)

Mt. Vernon beat Stockton
Eldo beat Ash Grove
Crane beat Skyline twice.
Eminence beat WG
WG beat Chadwick

several instances of SWMO teams playing each other for championships.

So you have 3 or 4 programs then.
Anyone besides walnut grove in class 1?

Since 2007 Walnut Grove has been to the Final 4-9 times winning 5 State Championships 2 Runner Ups and 1-3rd place finish. I would say without a doubt they have been the best program in Class 1 for a long time. They’re poised to make another run at another State Championship this year as well.

Haven't watched class 1-3 girls basketball in a few years. But when I use to go to playoff games/state SWMO just played a more physical type of game compared to what I seen in NWMO.

Gainesville girls lost to Crane and skyline ONLY in 2015 and 2016 or they would have won a title. Oh and their coach got fired for going like 58-5 and losing to crane and skyline...only lol.

Yes skyline has an impressive rune if final 4s

Is Hartville not in there somewhere? Usually there are 4-5 teams that could do well at state if not knocking each other off.

OK, they are in SCA which is in SWMO. They play a SWMO schedule. Why would a SEMO team play in a SWMO conf. against a SWMO schedule?
Thayer to Sikeston 122 miles, 2hrs 11 minutes. Thayer to Springfield 136 miles 2hrs and 18 minutes. Not much difference.

It appears the only class 2 'swmo' team moving on came from the bracket with only swmo districts.
Thats even counting a school closer to sikeston than springpatch as swmo.
Wg looked good. They'll carry the water again

They will still win half of them.

SWMo can’t win class 2 every year. It just seems that way.
I said SWMo would win half of the state titles this weekend. They are going to win 4 of 6. Another dominating year.
Numbers don’t lie.
Should we make SWMO have their own state tournament?
