If SPS would simply copy what Webb has done for years and what Lamar has done in recent times, we'd have state contenders. But right now, and for a long while now, it's been a every man for himself system. I don't think an SPS high school head coach could say "I want so and so to be the coach at Pershing or Carver". You need a youth system that runs the offense and defense of the high school teams, too. But it isn't a structured system right now and I don't see any official body or group that'll make it that way coming up anytime soon. You need a single person to say "Hey, this is the way it's going to be, now shut up and get in line" and some money as well to set up the youth system with.

SWMO class 6 has Joplin and occasionally Kickapoo as the only hopes/options there. However, Class 5 is a legitimate claim of superiority in titles for the big city teams. Not much has been produced in that class out of SWMO except an occasional semi or runners up.

Sheer volume makes it likely the larger classes will be dominated by KC and ST L. If not for Webb there would likely be more variety in class 4 SWMO champs.

Maybe stating the obvious but it's not at all surprising C6 is dominated by KC/STL. Almost all of the schools are in those 2 areas. Only 2 C6 in this entire corner of the state and they never play other C6 teams until districts. Even C5 is largely concentrated around the lager cities. So it seems reasonable, if not expected that KC/STL would produce more champions in the larger classes.

Class 4 is more dispersed around the state and it's conceivable that without Webb City you might see CJ, Carthage (before they moved to C5), West Plains or others in their place some years.

Yes ... and competitive enough in Class 6 among the bigger cities that every now and then the Coach Pattersons of the world decide it would just be easier to take his big boys and try to take over a smaller class.

One of my fishies from yesterday is still butt hurt, I see.

Safe space, JN?

ROFL!!!!!!!!!

I haven't read any of the posts...obviously I was trolling you guys. If you go back 25 years, SW MO has a dominating and fixed position as being a place that produces good football teams -- not cracking much into Class 5 and 6...but pretty solid in all the other classes.
