Saw the Stephanie Phillips Classic at Kickapoo, Dec. 9-11 also with only six teams. Wish one of those Sullivan entrants would change a tournament.

The tournament starts tonight. Could be some interesting matchups later in the week, including a rematch between Helias and St. James if both teams make their way to the championship game. St. James would have to get by a tough Owensville team, to get there.

Owensville and St. James should be a good match up. My pick to win the tournament is Owensville. They don't have much size on the inside, which could be an issue, but they've been very impressive so far. St. James or Helias could definitely win it too.

The first day is Owensville-Salem, St. James-Sullivan, and Helias-Steelville. Salem could hang with Owensville for a little while, but I think Owensville pulls away and wins by 20 or so. St. James will be too much for Sullivan, that is probably a running clock final. Helias and Steelville could be interesting for a while, but I think Helias pulls away in that one also.

Saint James will beat Owensville by 15-20

That sucks. One of the major contributors? I've only seen bits and pieces of Owensville and know that Finley is very very good.
They will be missed against St. James' pressure. Hopefully it doesn't hurt them too bad against Salem tonight.

Saw Saint James play vs Blue Eye and they are quick and score fast! After watching that game, I’ll say they win the Sullivan tournament and most games won’t be close! But it’s just a guess!

Scores from last night's first round:

I saw that Steelville was actually winning at halftime, but Helias completely dominated the second half. I figured Steelville would be fundamentally sound enough to hang for a while, but Helias just has them outgunned. Owensville and Salem looks like the game of the day. They both usually score in the 50s or 60s, so it must have been some solid defense. I thought Owensville would be pretty comfortable in that game, but Salem can be a dangerous opponent. St. James is just too much for Sullivan to handle right now, so that one wasn't too surprising. I think the only game today is Borgia and Steelville. I don't really know much about Borgia, but Steelville is playing on back to back days so that's probably an advantage for Borgia. I still think Steelville wins that one though.

Heard at some point in the 3rd Quarter Steelville lost 2 starters at the same time, one with fouls, and one to a head injury? Played without her last night. Can anyone confirm?
