Steyer spent $200 million and got a total of 3.9%. Dollars plus a political case is better than no dollars plus a political case.
To Bloomberg's credit, he is spending his own money. Bernie Sanders and Warren are pledging to spend everyone else’s. “Stop trying to buy elections!” rings hollow from a cast of characters who have promised Americans “free” health care, “free” college tuition, “free” child care and “free” housing, among other giveaways.

I have yet to figure why it's bad for a guy to spend HIS own money to get elected but it's ok for others to take money from many different people, some who probably really can't afford to give it, to get elected to the same job.
I do find it hard to believe you can get $25 MILLION dollars in ONE month from people averaging $27 each.

Repeating “free” over and over makes everyone believe it. Good work.

It's not really none of your business what the liberals are doing with their money or how they are getting it. You have enough to worry about with the POS you have leading your cult.

That is point I made too. Steyer and Bloomberg are spending their own money. I like them better than the old worthless communist gaming the tax payer system for 40 years.

Lol anyone donating to the Bernie campaign thinks that money's coming back to them tenfold. Probably tax return or student loan money they think they've "earned".

I had a child who worked their way into management in retail. Then Missouri voted to raise minimum wage. I texted them letting them know it passed, they were excited. I said just wait, they will raise the wages of the workers under you, but you will not get the same amount raise only bringing your earning power down and inline with them. Sure enough the last two years that has happened and now their wage gap is closing. They now no longer support that, and understand that minimum wage increases only bring down the middle class earning power, as wages will not keep up with the inflation it creates.

Today's economy is so different and more diverse, we have more teen earners. Those earners think it is easier to vote themselves a raise than to earn it.

someone beneath you getting a raise doesn’t lower your earning power. Bahahahahaha

This is a absolutely true. McDonalds is the best example I go to. If you pay a teenager $15 an hour to work there they are not going to have 1 dollar large sodas or teas. The price will go to $1.50 and the rest of the menu will as well. If you go from making $7 and hour to $15 then good for you but everyone going from $15 an hour already on up is going to get hit by inflation. McDonalds isn’t going to just hold their prices. They will reduce workforce and/or raise prices.

To just be honest there is no economy where a teenager starting at $15 an hour flipping burgers is worth close to someone that has worked 10-15 years at a trade making $16-17 an hour. Once you raise everyone’s wages you have raised no ones wages.

People like Bernie want to think that the CEO of McDonalds (in this example) is just going to eat the costs and go on but that is not how it works in the real world.

Instead of throwing out hypothesis, maybe someone should find some recent actual data on this topic, not paid for by a right wing think tank.

The CEO of the McDonald's Corp and your Local franchise owner are on two entirely different levels of income and how they get it. The Corp gets usally around 5-7% of sales from each franchisee, depending on the market which includes the land the building sits on. The local Franchise owner gets only the profit once all bills are paid including what goes back the the corp. Which while it is nice, not as nice as one might think for the headache of owning one.

I have a buddy who owns a couple of McyD's Yes we both started working for our local owner at 16, he stayed with it worked his way up and eventually saved enough money to purchase a store he worked really hard. Sure I think he makes 6 figures now, but he does not have health insurance nor a 401k or any other benefits that all comes out of his pocket being that he is a business man. If he has to pay his employee's $15 an hour and there is no cash flow increase prices will have to go up. But most those other wages such as his managers will not you can only spend so much on labor which is about 15% to be profitable. I have owned my own restaurant it is not easy, anybody who has gone out on their own be it a franchise or just a mom and pop place and has had to keep the lights on knows the affect that raising the minimum wage has on the bottom line.

No, just give everyone big raises....it'll be fine.
Libs don't care about the facts, they live in a dream world where anything is possible.

You're really wasting your talents here on Mosports. If I knew everything about politics, economics, and race relations like you claim to, I'd really be using those skills to help the country instead of dealing with us troglodytes.

You were literally just given a real world example in this thread and you just choose to dismiss it. There are plenty of examples of the minimum wage failing. Just look at Seattle for one example.

Duck remember when you said we could not afford to pay factory workers $15 an hour that is why those jobs left for China. Yet you think we can pay somebody $15 an hour to say welcome to McDonald’s and screws up your order? And if you think it is so easy to do go out and open your own restaurant if you think it is such a cash cow. Prove me wrong I actually have done and lost a ton of money.

Just because you’ve actually done it doesn’t mean that is real research...lol.

I just spent 12 hours looking for evidence of me ever saying we should raise the minimum wage to $15 for fast food jobs. Guess what. I never said it. (Didn’t really look because I knew). The amount of assuming is incredible. This would be like me assuming you hillbillies are in favor of taking funds intended for the military and using it to build a wall along the border.

just because I question your assumptions or limited examples doesn’t mean I think a blanket raise to $15 nationally is the best way to go. I am more in favor of a min wage based on regional cost of living, But continue your nonsense.

Are you Bernie? I never said YOU wanted to raise the minimum wage to $15.

Wait let's attack one thing at a time, no where in this conversation was the military or the Wall brought up was it? There is no way raising or not raising the minumum wage affect those two things....will it! So let's stick to the topic at hand.

Missouri $9.45 an hour currently. Below is what it will be going to raise to over the next few years.

Most places around here already pay more than minimum and struggle to get employee's, raising the wage is only going to bring their wages on par with the new guy starting out. Walmart is not going to give those who are making $10.30 next year a raise increase of 8.99% to keep them ahead of those who are coming in already at that wage, it just is not going to happen. So now all those people just joined the starting wage.

And while I say that I am not against raising minimum.

  • $8.60 in 2019
  • $9.45 in 2020
  • $10.30 in 2021
  • $11.15 in 2022
  • $12 in 2023
