Two Stoddard County seniors signed letters of intent to continue their volleyball career at Division I schools next year.
Lindsay Hutchison of Bloomfield signed to play at Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale, Ill. A middle blocker, Hutchison has also played outside and defensive specialist all four years of high school. Triumphs for the Lady Wildcats this season include winning their fourth consecutive Stoddard County Athletics Association (SCAA) Conference Tournament championship and second Class 2 District 1 championship. The Lady Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight this season, defeating Liberty (Mountain View) 27-25, 27-25 before falling to eventual state champion St. Pius X (Festus) in three sets in Sectionals at Scott City High School.
Jasmine Johnson of Bell City has signed to play at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C. A middle blocker, Johnson has been one of the best players in Southeast Missouri for the past four years, consistently earning All-District, All-Conference, All-Regional, and All-State honors all four years of high school. Following the departure of Coach Erin Hoffman who won eight consecutive district titles while at Bell City, this season the Lady Cubs were unable to defend their district championship and fell to conference foe Bernie in the title match.
Congratulations to both ladies and best of luck in your future! Way to make Southeast Missouri very proud!
