Now I admit, I know very little about Class 1 or most of the teams outside of the STL area, but here is my best guess on how they play out. Yes, I favor the STL teams when possible, but here is my best guess. Can Kansas City be shut out of the titles this year? Looking forward to hearing what the rest of you have to say around the state!!! Looking forward to your comments.

I’ve re-evaluated my feelings towards class 5 like a thousands times this year. I do think if a KC team doesn’t take it? I think STL in some shape or form takes it. I was on the Carthage train forever. But I’m kinda puzzled by Carthage this year.

It seemed to be “the year” but it’s not looking like it. Don’t think Trinity can beat Odessa. Odessa doesn’t have some of the flash of some of the Trinity players. But they are a better overall team.

I see possibly now class 5,6,2 to be STL’s to lose.

Class 3 Cassville put Monett out of the district playoffs last week. This week vs Seneca for the district championship.

I think Carthage will be ready now that it's playoff time. I think they were definitely let down after the Webb City loss, but they have had time to heal.

It’s been a kind of strange season for Carthage for sure. I think they really felt poised to make a legit run at state, (maybe Webb City in the process but that wasn’t really a goal). Things just didn’t go their way in the WC game starting with the blocked FG debacle to end an otherwise solid half for the Tigers. Then injuries compounded some loss of confidence. They have won every game since then but many weren’t indicative of a ranked team.

Last week looked much better. They beat Branson like they “should” have the first time around. If they keep that up then they should run over Nixa and they’ve got a shot.

On paper - Waynesville avg 44ppg and gives up 17.1 compared to Carthage avg 39.1ppg and gives up 17.9. But keep in mind Waynesville average is skewed favorably by playing Central twice - 77-0 and 83-0 while Carthage average is skewed negatively by playing Webb City that no one can score against and giving up 56 to Joplin who no one can stop. So I like Carthage’s chances over W’ville. IF that happens who gets to host?

After that it’s tougher to say. My gut says the prediction above is pretty accurate with another “almost” season for the tigers. But we haven’t really seen this team play to their potential much this year so if they are doing that now they may catch someone off guard. In the few games they've had, Carthage hasn't fared well against STL c5 playoff teams.

DeSmet is a mystery to me, because they don't play anywhere near the caliber of schedule Liberty North or Ray Pec have played.

DeSmet has a huge line and talented skill positions. They remind me a lot of CBC last year, tho they aren’t quite as good, but anyone can get beat.

I'm curious to see how De Smet does against Francis Howell tonight. I think Francis Howell is a pretty good team.

Barring injury, Jackson is for real.

Barring injury, Jackson is for real.
Jackson has already lost their top two running backs in game 2 and didn’t even experience a hiccup in scoring ability. At this point, Jackson has a nearly 50/50 split in run/pass yardage, their all-state junior QB has a .693 completion pct. and a QB rating of 133.0. Since they’ve turbo-clocked all but one opponent, most of those stats were accumulated in only the first half.

That's what happens when you play a bunch of cream puffs. Schedule some decent opponents next season and then we can talk again.

Maybe you can help by offering some stronger teams that Jackson can schedule that would meet your qualifications of “decent opponents.” Considering where Jackson is located, don’t you think it’s challenging to get home & home contracts with tougher (larger) opponents?

They seem to have no problem driving to St. Louis to play bad teams. Why not play better ones? Here are a few examples: CBC, DeSmet, East St. Louis, Francis Howell, Marquette, FZ West/North, Kirkwood, Eureka, Chaminade. I know these are less ideal, but what about West Plains, Lebanon, Camdenton, or Bolivar?

They have played 8 bad opponents and two average ones (Farmington and Battle). There's no need to sugarcoat it.

Yep because they can just schedule whoever...they don't need the other school to agree to it...(sarcasm off)

The other thing to keep in mind, Jackson has done EXACTLY what they should if they're playing such inferior competition, they've not been in a close game yet this year.

Bolivar played no body, finally play somebody and couldn't do a thing against them. Beware Jackson.

Would you say Webster has historically been a bad team? Parkway Central is not that far removed from playing in the championship game. Jackson has played Battle every year since its inception, including beating them 62-34 the same year the Spartans won State.

Four of Jackson's games, including Farmington, are in conference.

Jackson played DeSmet, Lindbergh and SLUH in '16 and '17; crushed DeSmet both years, split with Lindbergh and SLUH. Played Marquette in ‘14. Chaminade and Eureka would likely be easier to schedule. ESL and CBC? What are the chances? West Plains? Lebanon? Camdenton? Bolivar? All of those are C-4s and, like DeSmet when Jackson played them, would likely, in your opinion, turn into cream puffs if Jackson plays them.

No one seems to be able to predict how good a team will be two years down the road. So, unless you have a crystal ball and can tell us who Jackson can schedule that won't turn into bad teams in that same season, it is what it is.

See there? Honcho thinks Jackson should schedule Bolivar. You think he would have more respect for Jackson's "cream puff" schedule if they did?

Pretty much spot on although their offense did play up to its potential early on and if Guidie wasn't so scared of Rod, the Webb game would've been much better.
Bobbyj got hurt last night. If he's out, that's a big blow considering their pass coverage is already thin and Glendale can move it through the air and I'm sure the teams after them can too.
