It isnt any more. Is it the organization from the top down or just Matheny's clubhouse?

From the outside, it was seemed as though it was just MM and the clubhouse

That is slowly growing out to include the FO as well

Agree on MM and clubhouse. Not so much FO, although Mo didn’t help himself with the Fowler thing. I think a bigger factor is just the absolute cesspool reputation the city of St Louis has right now too. Some great places to live out in the counties, but man, the city is really struggling.

He's not helping himself at all. That's why I say it's slowly creeping out towards him. They need some serious PR work

STL is dying. Like you said, away from the city is great..... But dang, do I do my best to avoid ever going into downtown for anything other than an occasional game

Shoot I go downtown at least once a month for any number of things. Games, concerts, 4th of July fireworks, and eat in Soulard and plan on checkng out the Arch and museum in a couple of weeks. Haven't been shot yet and if it does happen you are welcome to come to my funeral and say I told you so! The problem with the Birds is roster construction and the guy running the show. MO and MM are the problem not the city!

I'm going to see Foo Fighters later this year downtown. I go for work lunchs from time to time. I'd much rather to St. Charles for my concerts.

Soulard is alright. I ate at the Woodshack 2 weeks ago. Pretty solid place

While I don’t necessarily disagree with your view on the city, it’s not exactly the view in the national media. A lot of negativity the last 10 yrs or so. And crime just keeps rising in the city. It’s a shame too, because the city still has some great aspects.

A couple of things. As Eagles mentioned, the city has a really bad image. That has to play some part in decision making. But maybe something not being mentioned by anyone is the fact that we don't have the best player in the game anymore. If Albert Pujols is still in his prime I'm guessing more guys would give the Cards more thought. Albert made a lot of things easier for 10 years.

Chicago kind of takes away from your take about "the city". I think we can isolate this issue to the Cardinals themselves. The question is how high do we go within the org.

So true about The Mang. Kinda has that KD to the Warriors, Lebron to the Heat, Stanton to the Yanks...stars want to go play with other stars. Can’t think of one in a Birds uni right now.

I like the cracker pizza. I’m a big Imos fan. I probably go NY style, STL style, and then the Chicago deep dish stuff. I know, I’m an oddball.
Ugh. I refuse to touch Imo's. I'll eat a local mom and pop STL style pizza, if I have to

If I'm doing "pizza" in STL, I go to Sauce on the Side for a calzone. That place is top notch

Chicago has quite a bit better reputation as a city than does STL.

When people think of gun violence I think Chi-town has a reputation all its own. And while "wrigleyville" may seem quaint to the soft hearted, that area is a freakin cess pool. Its all about the people in charge of the teams.

You can say Matheny sucks, and I do, but who hired Matheny and who keeps him on?
