Ste Genevieve 71 - North County 60

Kaski what went on at about 1:20 left in the game ? That's when SG shot 4 free throws and got the ball

Ref gave a NC kid an intentional foul. Very questionable in my opinion, especially with the contact that was going on before that play. This was also right after there was a collision around half court that resulted in a NC foul and Ste Gen FTs. Ste Gen was on offense, NC pressing full court. Ste Gen threw the ball just past half court, Ste Gen girl (on offense) makes a play for the ball and collided with NC defender (who was stationary). Gave the foul the NC. That sent the crowd and staff into a frenzy.

NC had a 7-8 point lead at one point. Ste Gen battled back. Helps they shot 40 FT to NC 18. Some of that was due to fouling late. NC didn't get away with some of the mistakes they got away with against Central. Fun game to watch. I'm guessing they'll probably have a chance at playing again in the MAAA Tourney.

I didn't see the intentional foul. Guessing from the ref's gesture, a NC girl grabbed a SG girl w/out the ball to stop the clock. If she did grab the SG girl, ref had to call it - the intentional foul was a point of emphasis a few years ago. It happened at the same time that a NC girl fouled the SG ball handler. So 4 FTs and the ball was huge.

Yes, it was a foul fest. In the 1st half, the foul count favored NC, they were in the bonus in the 1st qtr., and flipped in SG favor in the 2nd half. Yes, I thought SG girl would get the foul on the long pass, the NC girl was camped waiting to catch it. Very physical game.

SG just played better down the stretch and made FTs.

The foul count the second half was 15 to 4. Hard to believe one team fouled 11 more times than the other. And a team only committed 4 fouls in a half. NC played sloppy the second half. And didn’t make free throws when they had them

Happens a lot more than you would think.

The foul count the second half was 15 to 4.

And 4 or 5 of NC's 2nd half fouls were in the last 2 minutes to stop the clock and put SG on the FT line.

At one point in the first half the fouls were 11-4 in NC's favor.
