Does anyone else not like Mshsaa's setup for Refs in the state games?
I watched a district championship, sectional game and then two state final four games with their setup.
For those that don't know for district games and state games Mshsaa uses a 4 referee system. Two officails are used on the sidelines one in the middle of the field and another stands at the scorers table.
To me it appears the Refs on the sidelines mainly determine off-side calls and out of bounce calls. The Ref at the table handles only substituions leaving the last officail to monitor the play on the field. During regular season games you normally have 2 officials who monitor the field as well as do those other jobs.
It seemed to me that with only the one ref on the field more calls were missed.
Has anyone else noticed this trend?
