Just curious What others think about the Championship games possibly being held in an outdoor arena in 2017-2018 . Will this change the style of offenses that many teams use. The emergence of pass dominate offenses in the past decade was facilitated with the championship game being played in the pleasant conditions of the dome in St. Louis. Will we see more balanced of run oriented offenses if the championship game is played outdoors in the weather conditions of November? Just thought it might be an interesting topic to kick around.

From a selfish viewers standpoint I love it indoors, and being able to watch more than one game. You make great points.

How many spread/pass first offenses actually made it to the Dome over the years? I don't think the location of the championship game made any difference in what people run offensively. Had to win the first 14 outdoors anyway...

Its always Outdoors in Oklahoma and always weeks later than it is here... No problems there.... cold and weather are a part of Football.

Coaches will coach what they know. They're not going to change their entire offense or defense based on the weather.

You have to win in cold weather leading up to the game anyways.

Outdoor games will cause one thing to change, lower attendance.
Agreed on all counts.

It's football, meant to be played outdoors regardless of the type of offense one run's. Coming from Illinois where the games have always been outdoors, attendance will be just fine. Attendance is mostly from the school's that are playing in the championship game anyway. Don't see this as a big issue

I take it you don't go watch?

HAHA! Should have clarified. A high school association that has a contract with a provider to air the state championship contests via satellite so the masses can view the contests.
I can't imagine any cable or satellite companies will invest the resources it would take to broadcast 6 games from multiple locations, as they have/did when they were all at the Dome.

not sure that really matters, it was in the dome this year and was not broadcast on cable or satellite.

What about splitting the Championship games into different places. Like all the small schools (8-man to class 3) in one location (say maybe Branson, they have some nice facilities) . Then Class 4-6 in another location (Small College venue maybe). Would you guys be opposed to that?

If they did that instead of assigning a venue for each class pick the teams that are closest to the venue

Interesting.. thanks for posting... the fact that MIZZOU bid for the football games shows that the folks that said that the SEC would not let them host were misinformed..

The NCAA division 2 stadiums in MO are great venues. It would make for a great atmosphere with these venues near capacity. A shame Mo Western, NW Missouri, or Central Missouri could not put in a bid.

Branson? What a treat. After the games, everybody could go watch some shows! An Asian dude singing country music- now that's a treat! Also, an Andy Williams Christmas is not to be missed.

1.) If you are playing for a state championship, do you really care where the game is held? The Dome is great because it is inside, but once it goes outside does it matter?

2.) I know NW dominates 8 man, so I understand putting the championship game in that area, but if we are wanting to grow this class with smaller schools losing enrollment, or schools thinking about implementing football as a new sport, then it should be moved closer to a central location. Moving to Cameron or Chillicothe makes sense.

3.) I also like the idea of spreading out the championships so that teams have a little time to celebrate on the field with fans after the game. Not that the 2 minutes they get after the game at the dome doesn't work!

Arrowhead would be great and Missouri obviously has great facilities to host but Mo State is probably the best venue to host with the stadium upgrades and the stadium is large but not huge like Arrowhead or Faurot would be.

As far as playing outdoors. There are some Thanksgiving weekends when the weather is great so it isn't going to be a problem every year. Most of the time it is on the cold side to stay around and watch more than one game. As far as the play on the field the teams will cope. As long as the playing surface is good I don't see a real problem.

From a personnel stand point it seems MSHSAA does not have enough manpower to operate these games with everyone together now at the dome. I dont think they can spead them out.
If you think web-streaming was pricey last year just wait until they have to set up 3 to 7 separate setup to show the games!

I am assuming this is sarcasm. But Branson would be a good host, especially for a single game. Great facilities, plenty of lodging in the area, and plenty to do.

Don't televise it live. If people want to watch they can go to the game or watch it on hudl after it's over. It would get more meat in the seats. Just a thought

Yes, it was definitely sarcasm. There are dozens of equal or better facilities in the state, plenty of lodging in StL, KC, Columbia, or Springfield, and a whole lot more to do in any of those areas. The last place I want to spend a weekend is Branson.

I was just throwing a place out there that has good facilities and plenty of lodging. It could be on a rotational thing. But we really should base it on where you want to spend the weekend. Sorry I didn't take that into consideration when I made the suggestion.

Some people get way to worked up about suggestions....you must be really self conscious about your own opinions....

Those who love watching the games can't be at all places! It either has to be at one place or on a feed.

No, I just recognize and call out bad ideas when I hear or read them.

I've heard that the turf has already been removed at the Edward Jones Dome. I've also heard whispers that MoState will host this year and MU next year. No confirmation on that, though.

when you say that there are "dozens of equal or better facilities" are we to assume that you have actually been to Pirates Stadium and are speaking with knowledge?

I'm guessing Rufus is going to say yes of course he has been there, I'd take that with a grain of salt. Anyone who bashes Andy Williams is suspect in book!

Yes, I've also been to many of the stadiums in the state's two metropolitan areas. Branson does not stand out in any way. Just more banjos.
