You stop one facet of their offense here come two or three others to beat you. Most amazing offense I've seen in years. Today they barely broke a sweat running the ball over and through Carthage and never really utilized the passing game which is their real weapon. How anyone thought this was going to be a game is beyond me..........

Coldest game I’ve been to in while. Wind chill was ridiculous! Staley was “as advertised”.

Very proud of those Carthage Tigers for hanging in there as long as they did and never giving up.

One of these days, Carthage fans.....one of these days.

One thing I thought about was the disparity in numbers. Could be a good argument for expanding Class 6 to 48 teams..............

Carthage had 98 kids out for football out of 1500 students and that's probably an above average ratio for a Class 5 school especially when they had 63 try out for the soccer team this year. I think I counted 159 on Staley's roster. Makes it nearly impossible to track scoring summaries when each number has two players.

I heard Staley dressed every kid that played in their program this year all the way down to the freshman team. Not sure if that’s normal or not, but I’m sure it’s another one of those little intimidation things that home teams can use.

I think you have to see them in person. They look like a small college team. A good one.

Congrats to the Carthage Tigers on a very nice season. Sometimes you just run into a better team.

Carthage did manage to slow down WC but it was early in the year and WC left a ton of points off the board. CJ beat them 49-7 and had the JV in pretty early in the 3rd so I’m not shocked that Staley rolled. Carthage was stronger last year. Now Arkel Smith for Carthage is as talented as any in the state but you have to be able to get him the ball.

Carthage is trending upward. Several years back Carthage was only suiting up 40-50.

They are an awesome HS team, but wouldn’t go that far.

He's a little biased now since as of today he has accepted a position as the extra point retriever for Staley High School. His devotion to the Falcon team for the last 10 hours landed him an internship.

They basically pull from four high school areas to get this team. Nothing diabolical. But if you want to liv
Umm I was there today.

Um a rhetorical statement for those that haven’t. Not you.

Arkel Smith did stand out for Carthage. He scored their first TD on a short crossing pattern and then turning it upfield running away from Staley defenders for about 65yds. Carthage did have some very solid players but appeared to be short on depth. Smith and a few others played both ways.

I have followed and attended NAIA football games for the last 30 years.

Staley can’t hold a candle to the likes of MNU, Baker, Grand View, USF or Carroll - to name just a few. In fact they’d go O for forever in the KCAC.

It was a joke, I doubt a high school would be able to beat most college teams. They beat your team, life goes on. A long time ago Carthage beat a team I coached. Life goes on.

I was just joking. Everyone gushing so much about them...I was just exaggerating. They are a really good high school team. I saw William Jewell/Baker/Mo Valley play many many times. Jewell had a 10.3 100m man named Bedami, and a guy named Scoop Galespi that played for the Steelers. The starting players on those teams were almost all All-State high school players. They were no joke. The reason they often played in the NAIA was because they didn't meet the archtype for size...BUT they are often better football players (at least in the head) than some of the computer model recruits that places like KU take. Favoring a 40 time and body type over real football skills.
The teams in the NAIA would throttle the best school teams badly.
