It appears Travis Ford and his basketball staff are sending a clear message to Missouri coaches Cuonzo Martin and Porter Sr. that the Billikens are players for the " St. Louis East-side " basketball talents
The St. Louis Eastside has two outstanding players who will be seniors in 2019.

1. EJ Liddell --6'6" from Belleville West
2. Terrance Hargroves Jr. 6'6" from East St. Louis--committed to St. Louis University.

Missouri can get back in the game ( Recruiting wars for the Eastside ) if they can sign EJ Liddell but the bigs are on EJ.

Big deal. Ford is a poor game coach.

I believe the St. Louis Eastside will be dominaded by three D-1 coaches ( Brad Underwood, Travis Ford and Cuons Martin-Porter Sr ) with coaches like Bill Self, Roy Williams, Shaka Smart and Coach K stealing the five stars Eastside players.

Illinois coach Brad Underwood is coach to watch in a recruiting war.

Brad Underwood's record as a major college coach.

1. 2013-14---Stephen F. Austin----32-3--------------NCAA round of 32
2. 2014-15---Stephen F. Austin----29-5--------------NCAA round of 64
3. 2015-16---Stephen F. Austin----28-6--------------NCAA round of 32
4. 2016-17---Oklahoma State------20-13------------NCAA round of 64
5. 2017-18---Illinois-------------------14-18------------NCAA----Did not make the NCAA or the NIT.

Major College record----123-45

Not a good trend. His record gets worse each year.

I’ll be shocked if Underwood doesn’t get it rolling at Illinois. The guy can flat out coach. He’s playing the long game, so he’ll need the time. If he gets it, they’ll be a factor in another year or two.

But I've read that Underwood's window of opportunity has already closed and he's already a failure with no chance to succeed. ;)

7. KJ Santos --------6'8"--UIC--Transfered--Junior College did not play in 2018.

No doubt an expert opinion. Lol...I know a guy that was with Underwood for one yr at SFA. His stories on how the guy got kids to work and play the way they did was pure gold. He seems like one of those coaches that has that rare ability to work a player like a dog, yet the players absolutely love the guy and love playing for him. And he knows hoops. My only question...Can he recruit the level of player they’ll need to be successful in a P5 conference? And can he coach that player the same way he did at SFA? Huggy Bear seems to be able to it no matter where he’s at. But Cincy, KState, and WVU are all probably a good bit more blue collar than Illinois. I’d love to see him clean up in the CPL and get those guys that have it rough, and get them to play for him. Might be his best shot. But the CPL also seems like a huge recruiting cesspool too. It’ll be fun to watch it play out...Gotta admit, since BCG is no longer around, Underwood is probably my new fav coach. Just love the way he goes about it.

Nah...... Metro's formatting is a bit misleading. The first three are walk-ons. It would have been more clear if he would have put something like "scholarship players" before the next group, instead of just a space.....

Yeah the way he wrote that sure looks like all those dudes are walk-ons.

As has been mentioned here countless times:

Carte’Are Gordon commit to St. Louis on Oct. 26, 2016
Fred Thatch committed to St. Louis on Jan. 12, 2017

Cuonzo Martin was hired on March 15, 2017.

Fred Thatch and Carte'are Gordon could withdraw from their commitment anytime before signing. The facts show Carte;are Gordon and Fred Thatch wanted to attend St. Louis University and play for Travis Ford not Coach Martin-Porter Sr.

Courtney Ramey wanted to play for Shaka Smart @ Texas not Missouri

Ochai Agbaji 6'9"-4-star out of Oak Park signed with Kansas on 4-12-18. Ochai wanted to play for Bill Self. St. Louis University and the Missouri Tigers missed out on this one.

The facts show that both players made a commitment on a different coaches watch, and then stuck by their commitment.

The fact is both Gordon and Thatch committed on KAs watch, and you would really like to hold Martin accountable for that, and not KA. Which is exactly what I would expect from you, being the fair minded and thoughtful person that you are.

It's pathetic, but not nearly as pathetic as the fact that I'm wasting time on this conversation. Have a great day.

mowesten, Can you tell give insight on Ochai Agbaji 6'9" from Oak Park who will be attending Kansas next year. Did Bill Self get a " Steal " from Missouri? Did Martin-Porter Sr. have interest or was Ochai gifted to Kansas?

Kansas usually out pays everyone else. This could be the case here as well. Maybe they will feel the heat soon.

Losing a player to a blue blood program should never be held against the in state school. Metro up in arms when a player goes to Kansas, Duke, UNC, UK is nonsense. He just wants to stir the pot. Why don’t you talk to the Mizzou AD and take the reins yourself since you can lock the entire state down. I’m sure you would have them in a Final 4 in no time.
Have you ever coached a single jr high game much less been a college coach to know what all goes in to recruiting?

Are you talking to me. I've played and coached at a lot higher level than Jr. Hi if it's to me. And if you think KU doesn't pay for them to play you are asleep at the wheel. Metro Dude could out recruit them though, he would have gotten Wilt Chamberlain to attend St. Louis U. He is trolling and I apologize if you got caught in the reply. At least you know you can't coach.

Semo....I was definitely talking to metro since he tends to think he can recruit anyone and their brother to Miz or Slu! He’s so oblivious to what really goes on under the table. Because yes I agree and know that KU along with many others pay to get players. It’s the biggest unkept secret around. And fans would be shocked to know what really goes on behind closed doors.
And yes I figured the name was appropriate for this forum

Kind of thought that. Anyway, we think alike on the subject. Have a nice weekend!

A short list of players in next years class that Cuons-Porter Sr. have made contact.

1. EJ Liddell-6'6"St. Louis Eastside--Illinois, Kansas State, Ohio State and Missouri. The bigs are coming to Belleville, Illinois with high hopes. I'd say Brad Underwood is the favorite but Cuons-Porter Sr. could have a chance on this 4-star recruit.

2. Mario McKinney--6'3" --Vashon-Missouri is high on Mario and has a chance. Florida, Louisville, Kansas State and St. Louis University have major interest.

3. Isiaih Mosley 6'4" --Rockbridge in Columbia Mo--Missouri has offered

4. Yuri Collins--5'10"--St. Mary's in St. Louis, Mo. DE Paul, SMU, Missouri, Missouri State and St. Louis University. Missouri has offered according to the St. Mary's coach.

5. Marcus Watson 6'6"-Morgan Park-Chicago---Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Missouri.

6. Jalen Hill 6'7"--4-Star---Out West----UCLA is the favorite but Cuons-Porter Sr. has put in some time on this one.

7. Mark Rocket Watts 6'1"--Detroit, Mi.--Has made an unofficial visit to Missouri but Michigan, Michigan State and Marquette appear to be the favorite.

8. Harlond Beverly---6'4" from Michigan.--Michigan State, Ohio State and Xavier appear to be the favorite but Cuons-Porter Sr. has worked Harlond Beverly.

9. Antavion Collum 6'8"--Memphis, Tenn-------Memphis, Tenneesee, Ole Miss and Missouri. Cuons-Porter Sr. are the underdogs but has not given up.

Missouri's best chance appear to be McKinney, Yuri Collins and Isaiah Mosley with EJ Liddell a one in four chance.

They can't all go to Missouri. The fact that talent like this is taking them seriously is a big improvement over the previous regime. Just so he gets the right three or four, guys who want to play at Missouri, then the program will be fine.
