Tony Irons and his Vashon Woverines takes on highly regarded Charleston @ 6:30 PM on Friday evening in a game that could bring high rating for the winner. Charleston is a class 3 power and Vashon will be a class 4 power in the future.
Conversation with some of the St. Louis city coaches last night @ Borgia concerning who will be the top public high school in the St. Louis area, Tony Irons and Vashon's name continued to come up.The Class 4 state championship appears to be " Wide Open " but Vashon and Sikeston will be in the discussion.
I was talking with a Sikeston fan in the Webster Jam, this fan indicated to me Charleston could win a class 3 state championship and could challenge Sikeston for the top team in Southeast Missouri. I tried to tell him that Charleston could not win the class 3 state championship because of Kansas City Barstow who is the big favorite.
Scott County Central the defending class 2 state champions has a new look and 2-3 new players will play Covington, Tn. @ 2:00 PM on Friday. This is a game of interest for class 2 teams in Southeast Missouri and could answer questions on SCC being able to repeat as class 2 champion in Missouri. Bloomfield and Bernie most likely will keep a close eye on this one and thinking of what could have been.
