More than 140 inmates awaiting trail for charges including unlawful use of weapons, assault, burglary, child molestation, and drugs, have been released because of covid threat in crowded conditions . Wonderful news!!

why in the world is this a good idea at all? Again, it's madness due to lack of statistical knowledge. Where are the level-headed people?
afraid of lawsuits probably - they were awaiting trial, one for 3 yrs, backlog is ridiculous in st louis, can't keep public defenders
Jails are cesspools and a big place for transferring of disease. It keeps the staff safer.
Most states/cities overuse bail for crimes vs. tracking/managing people at home. The issue is the quick panic likely forced some bad decisions.
