St.James vs Buffalo Quarterfinal @ Drury

St. James by a dozen. Those girls are on a mission.....

I'll take that dozen SWJ and raise you another dozen. As I stated in another post (and haven't seen either of these teams play), looking at their strength of schedule, they have been prepared for this moment. I'd say Buffalo will start off giving them a game, but St. James will prevail big in the end. Does anyone have legit scouting reports on both teams?

I have seen St.James play a few times this year. They have great defenseive pressure and will press full court. They score a lot of points off turnovers and fastbreaks. Have a good 1/2 court offense and lots of long ball shooters. I did see that they have struggled shooting from perimeter lately but their defense has won them ball games. They have 6/7 girls that are capable of scoring 20 points any game. Haven't seen Buffalo play this year but heard they were a pretty solid team. Should be a good game, hope to make it to Drury tomorrow evening.

Buffalo pulled the upset! I'll have to say I didn't see that coming, but then I don't know anything about Buffalo either. I certainly haven't read anything on here that would have made me think they would be the one to knock off St.James this year. As they say, that's why they play the games.

Looks like the top 10 poll was not too bad in class 3. Two of the top 4 and 3 of top 10 will be in Columbia. #10 Buffalo, #4 Park Hills and #2 Boonville are all going to the Final 4. #1 Saxony and #4 Park Hills had to play each other, #3 St. James had to play #10 Buffalo so we knew 2 of those top 10 teams would not get there. Fatima and Licking both had to play St.James and Stockton played Boonville so that eliminated 3 more top 10 teams. Park Hills only loss was to St.James in the Potosi Tournament championship game the first week of the season. I don't know anything about the teams in the Final 4 outside of Park Hills but it looks like it should be a very competitive Final 4 in class 3.

I will have to say I did see this coming. Seems like every year St. James gets built up by everyone but can't finish it out in the big games. I think they are way too overrated, good year of course but again not able to finish.

I have to disagree with you shake, St. James is very good and well coached. We used to have the pleasure of seeing them in the Potosi Tourney and The Christmas Tourney where they pretty much wrecked shop for many years. I think too often people think a team is overrated if they don't go to the final four. Heck the team came within overtime of going to Columbia and their worse loss was to a class 4 district winning "down" Dexter team, who has a possibility of also winning the sectional game . I know some people will disagree with me on here, but I'd take a quarterfinal appearance and be considered overrated every year.

Maybe it could be said in the past that St.James was overrated because of their regular season schedule and piling up wins that way. I don't think that's anywhere near the case this year or last. That said even if you don't play a real tough schedule in the regular season you have to beat some good teams in the playoffs to get to Columbia. If it's really easy to get there then the whole class you play in must be having a bad year.

Well they do have it lined up so MICDS and IWA can't meet until the championship game this year. That could be an interesting game barring any major upsets along the way. Once again that's why they play out the string.

I don't feel it's fair to call it an upset. I mean I thought STJ would possibly cruise, but is an upset because of what everyone in here had to say? Buffalo seemed to be very good, and the teams seemed pretty equal to me. Buffalo had the best player on the floor, and imo it came down to that. I don't think STJ played a bad game, just came out on the losing end.

Wow! I was wrong. I was just going on the teams St. James played during the season and with their strength of schedule I thought they would be in the Final 4 with no problems. I guess Buffalo had their own plans. Sounds like it was a good game. Good Luck to Buffalo and the rest of the teams that made it to the Final 4.
