"Don't stop believing"....Journey and the St. Charles Pirates 2015

Congrats to Coach Foster and his Pirates basketball team!

Re: St. Charles never stopped believing but was aided with the schedule

Congrats goes out to Coach Rick Foster and his Pirate basketball staff. The Pirates ended their season with a class 4 state championship and a 28-4 record. The Pirates played a heavy schedule consisting mostly of class 4 and 5 schools. The Pirates had 8 seniors on their championship season.

The heavy scheduling and believing helped the Pirates get back in the game after being down 16 points after the first 16 minutes of play. Springfield Hillcrest's Brady Petry had an unbelievable first half but was plagued with foul trouble almost the entire second half before fouling out with major minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Pirates have 2 great guards who can put up major points in a hurry and that what happened. I'm sure the father-son duel Skip and Thomas Brock will have something to talk about for years and will play this game over and over.

Hillcrest entered the districts with a 13-12 record and appear to have overachieve during districts and all the way to the championship game. Casey Teason, Chase Morfred and Brady Petry were special today and will have memories of the game the rest of their life.

The St. Charles Pirates won their last large school championship back in 1957 when Missouri only had 3 classes. Hillcrest won a state title back in 2010.

The St. Louis area is heavy on class 4 and 5 high schools and a few in class 3. The St. Louis area only had one championship in 2015 and that was " The St. Charles Pirates ".

MoSports always remember " You gotta believe ".
