Hey Hoka,

Double check. I think there should be a three way tie at the top. Revno took PC. MC_PL01 and I took El Do.

I actually posted my picks late last week. They shouldn't count!

Diamond @ Liberal
Lockwood @ Miller
Windsor @ Jasper
McAuley @ PC
Sarcoxie @ Butler

Diamond l
Lockwood -Miller better be ready. LW will make a point to pound you worse than Marionville.
Jasper - not much talk about Jasper.
PC - ?????
Butler - This one will be ugly. Butler is legit. Coach Hannah did a great job there.

Jasper - not much talk about Jasper.

Marionville played awful that first game so it shouldn't be hard if lockwood is all that.

Jasper didn't really impress me that much but they are VERY well coached.

Yeah I would too if I was Lockwood since Miller's pounded them quite a bit over the last 7-8 years.

Veer are you actually saying we are a better team than Marionville if you think we'll pound Miller by more than they did?

I was at the Miller Lockwood game tonight and Lockwood looked flat. If someone makes them throw the ball they're gonna be in trouble

57-8 ... flat?

Honestly yes. It was almost all big plays (by the Bates kid, who is a machine BTW. I was really impressed with him) because apparently no one on Miller's team can break a 5.0 40 , or deep passes till they hit. Hope you guys are just sand bagging 42 if you want a shot a Jasper.

If Marionville stays hurt, Thayer crushes the SW teams (and still probably rolls a healthy Marionville)

Yeah I definitely didn't see the best team in srvc history last night. But I agree Thayer is going to be tough for anyone to beat in the district. Skyline may be able to play with them. Marionville is too worried about Valle and they're not even going to get a chance to play them.

LW was a bit "flat" in the beginning, but when Miller scored their lone Td a few of the LW boy finally opened their eyes and LW's defense handled them easily. LW's TD in the 4th was the entire jv. LW will beat Jasper with or without Bouldin. And the Bates kid is a machine isn't he? I believe LW could beat Thayer or Skyline. Remember LW beat Cole Camp who is C2 and their only 2 losses were to Skyline and LW and LW beat them worse than Skyline did. But Skyline is in district 4 and on the opposite side of the playoff bracket, so they wouldn't LW or Thayer until the championship game.

First, I believe Lockwood is an extremely good team based on the athletes they have and how they have been playing. They have a lot of weapons. Every Jasper fan I have talked to greatly respects LW and thinks they are a great team. I will say, however, that anytime you start to compare scores, things get a little bit murky. For instance, last year, Miller beat Jasper 28-14, Lockwood beat Miller 27-21, then Jasper beat Lockwood 36-16 (which resulted in that 3 way tie for conference champs). On the other hand, Diamond has given Jasper much harder games the last three years than you would expect based on how each team plays against like opponents. Lockwood beat Cole Camp by a lot, who has only lost to LW and Skyline. Cole Camp, however, only beat Windsor by 1 point, then Jasper beat Windsor by a lot. Does that mean Jasper would beat Cole Camp by a lot - not necessarily. There was a comment earlier about not hearing much about Jasper. I would say that Coach Adkins is not the type to talk much, and tries to pass that on to the boys and fans. Jasper has lost a lot of weapons to graduation the last two years, but is still managing to win games. A lot of that is Adkins - I hesitate to brag too much about him because I would hate to see a bigger school hire him away. The fact is, though, that he is a good coach and very classy guy (last night Jasper's backups kneed the ball on the 1 yard line rather than get another score at the end of the game - which is exactly the way it should be played). I do not know how the Jasper/Lockwood game will go. On paper I would think LW would have the edge in a fairly close game, but the game is not played on paper...it's played on the field. I would also not be surprised to see one team get the upper hand on the other and spread the score out. What I will say with great confidence is that the stands (and sidelines) for both sides will be full of passionate fans. Final regular game of the season being played by two long-time rivals, both undefeated, to decide the conference championship - that is high school football.

I'll weigh in like everyone else.
1) With Bates blocking and Bouldin running, they will be tough for anyone to stop.
2) Lockwoods defense did not impress me at all. Miller moved the ball and really should have scored more. If Miller isn't stoned by the best team in the league, they aren't that good.
3) With Bouldin Lockwood id better than Jasper....probably a lot better. Without him, pretty even.
4) Marionville would destroy the team I saw last night. Much more physycal (except for fullback), much more talent, and much more diverse. Marionville is much better defensively and on the lines, and Lockwood wouldn't stop them defensively.
Thayer would destroy Marionville. I base that on Thayer being a top dog in the SCA (much tougher than the SRVC, Mid Lakes, and even the WEMO Veer).
5) Skyline looks like a team that only Valle will beat.
6) Jasper plays very smart (very well coached) but just isn't very talented.
7) comparing scores is nonsense unless one game is a tussle and the other a blowout. Skyline and Thayer turo Lockwood by halftime unless Bates and Bouldin can score enough to keep up.
8) Bates is a stud! That guy is big, agile, and mean on offense. With or without Bouldin, Lockwood doesn't get nowhere without Bates. He looked like real college material to me. I know Lockwoods motto is TEAM this year but from my perspective, Lockwood is a couple real nice players with a lot of weak spots surrounding them. Time will tell though.
9) Lockwood 2015 might be the 7th best SRVC team ever....might.

Yes, Bates is a beast.. but we at Lockwood have known that since he was a freshman. However, if you ask him, (and I know this because I literally just did) His response is "Lockwood IS a team. There are no weak spots."

Peachoc: you post was without question the most intelligent post I have seen in several years of following this forum. Thank you!

It is proper for him and the others to say that but, IT ISN"T TRUE based on what I saw. They will be very exposed by any of the good teams in the district.
This isn't even Lockwoods best SRVC team.

He didn't say that because it was proper. He said it because he was genuinely offended at some of the posts he read here downgrading his team mates. Despite being a great athlete, he's also a great kid who stands with his team. And for the record, I didn't say this was the best SRVC team ever. I do however think it's one of, if not the best that Lockwood has had since being in the SRVC.

Please don't take it wrong. NO ONE is bigger than the team or at least shouldn't be. BUT, some are more important to success, to say otherwise is just dumb. Are the Seniors not more important to success than the Frosh? I saw nothing to indicate Bates is anything but a class act and never said or implied otherwise.
It is one of Lockwoods best. That is different than the best and certainly not the best SRVC team ever (for all schools). I also never said Bates or any Lockwood player or coach said or thought so.

Dang I have got to check this on the weekends it looks like. I'm missing some good talks finally. The game on friday was a solid game that was played pretty sound. I think what people don't see or understand is our old school football philosophy. People get used to this spread em out motion and side line to side line stuff that when they see good old fahioned smash mouth football they think it's flat or just not very good. Well 57-8 and very generous on the 57 is not flat. Add Bouldin to that mix and look out. The boys are very talented on offense and defense but what sets them apart from everything is their discipline. They know their job and do it at a high level. So when I say the greatest SRVC team of all time well maybe not talent across the board but the sound team aspect is what I see that sets them a part from a lot of the good ones in the past. I hear Jasper isn't flashy as well but do their job well too so it looks to be a great game this friday.

The reason i said flat is because it was like 14 to 8 at the end of the first quarter. You guys completed only one pass the entire night against a pretty bad Miller team. Great teams don't do that. Your running backs are good I'll give you that but if you're wanting to beat some of the really good teams in the post season you're probably going to have to throw the ball some. Just my opinion.

Probably should win conference, district and a playoff game or two before self anointing 'best ever'.
