Is GF coming back? When are Lockwood and Jasper dropping down?
LW and GF should coop and let GC and Jasper combine.

You're leaving out Liberal. All could go to 8 man soon. Is WEMO facing numbers like these? If Greenfield don't come back, I think the srvc's days are numbered.

I agree the SRVC is on short time. I dont' see how the smaller schools (LW, Jasper, GF, Lib, miller?)can keep kids out. That said...GF wins the SRVC last year if they play 11 man.

I've heard Appleton City is having number issues but i can't confirm it. Drexel always will struggle with numbers if they don't co-op..Miami has really supplied drexel's best players for a while. Archie is growing so they shouldn't have any trouble. Midway is one that I can see losing kids if the economy tanks again (judging by the market losing 1.2% the other day that's not farfetched)

PC has less than 200 in high school. Lowest I've seen, and I'm old as dirt. Had 4 seniors on the team last year and only 3 started.

Would 8 man work in SWMO? If you had a kid who has a chance at getting a scholarship (at any college level) would you make them stay and play 8 man or would you rent a house 15 min away for a few years (if the kids wants) and let them play in Webb, Monett, Lamar, Carthage, etc? How many players does Maryville draw for the same reasons?

McCauley and Greenfield already are playing 8 man. Traveling all over, while the SRVC 11 man teams are forced to either play some 8 man games or last minute replacements like cj's jayvee or something. If my kid wanted to play 11 man, no way would I stay in a 8 man school district.

If the SRVC were to disband due to lack of numbers for football, where do you see some of the larger schools (Diamond, P.C., Sarcoxie) going for a conference?

Revno what is happening to the once proud PC football team. Watched you guys play Monett in baseball you guys had big kids athletic looking kids, but I heard a parent from PC talking that a lot of those kids just play Baseball and basketball. So has specializing in sports hurting you guys?

There were a couple of seniors that didn't play that would helped last season along with another senior who moved to Monett. The eagles still had a winning season though and with all but 3 starters back will have to be one of the favorites in the weak srvc this year.

What floored me was Greenfield going 8man. PC and GF have played for decades. Losing them and McCauley really jacked up the schedule. Pierce City beat an 8man team from Kansas by fifty, then had to play cj's jayvee on a weeknight, just to get a full slate of games. Add to this the lack of junior high and Jayvee opportunities for games.

Now, with number problems at four of the eight members that play football the four that haven't are Diamond, Sarcoxie, Miller, and PC. These four have to look outside to another conference for football.

  • looking at JH last year Miller played a full schedule with Sarcoxie twice. No Jasper or Liberal. Year before had Liberal at 8 man. Lockwood had several on sidelines more than Miller. Miller only had 18 on the JH. I believe Lockwood will be fine for several years (youth teams look good in numbers) big concern is Liberal, Jasper and of course Greenfield. Didn't McCauley finally drop football?

I don't know about McAuley? They need to step up or step off. Jasper has always played. Liberal as well. Just don't like the position of waiting to see if one or more can field a team.

Last season, IIRC, PC and Greenfield played 11 man in a junior high game, so there's that..

Jasper isn't going 8 Man anytime soon. My understanding is we'll have about 30 kids next year. We'll be very young but there's nothing you can do about that !!

Glad to hear that. Have you heard about any of the other teams?

Skill sets are still similar in kids being looked at for scholarships. There is a 8-man school up north that has had two players go pro. Mentally the game concepts are different, but size, speed, agility, and power still get recruited.
Greenfield had 3 kids get scholarships.
