S W Mo football is discussed a lot on here. And this year seems to be a prime example why. I looked up each class with a S W Mo town still playing and their distance from Webb City as a center point !

Class 1 Lockwood 44 Miles

Class 2 Lamar 34 Miles

Class 3 Mt Vernon 42 Miles

Class 4 Webb City -----------

Class 5 Carthage 10 Miles

Classes are broken up geographically. So SWMO will have a semifinalist every year in Classes 1-5. SWMO has few or no teams in 8-man and Class 6.

lol that's pretty normal.

Back in 2002 or 2003 you had 5 state champs within 25 miles of each other mostly in 1 county of Platte. Now thats something to brag about.

Class 1 West Platte
Class 2 St Pius X
Class 3 Platte County
Class 4 Kearney
Class 5 Park Hill

The more populated areas have more teams, therefore are mathematically more likely to be represented. Excepting the 2 premier programs in the region, WC and Lamar, the SWMO teams left will struggle. The area has had much better years.

This year it could have been:
Class 1 Midway instead of Lockwood
Class 2 Warsaw instead of Lamar
Class 3 Owensville instead of Mt Vernon
Class 4 Harrisonville instead of Webb
Class 5 Battle instead of Carthage

So........
