In a battle of undefeated teams, Southern Boone topped California 53-47 last night in Ashland.
Southern Boone jumped out to a 12-5 lead after the first quarter, before the Lady Pintos stormed back to tie the game at 22 in the 2nd quarter. Southern Boone closed the 2nd quarter on a 9-2 run to go into half with a 31-24 lead. California outscored Southern Boone 10-3 in the third quarter to tie the game at 34 heading into the 4th quarter.
The Lady Pintos had a 47-46 lead with 1:11 left in the game, before a SoBoCo basket with 50 seconds left but the Eagles up by 1. Southern Boone hit shots at the line to close out the victory.
Southern Boone, ranked #2 in Class 3, improves to 6-0.
California falls to 3-1 and will face Hermann on Saturday in Jefferson City.
