That’s the final just now in Bolivar. Totally did not see this coming, but South Calloway is the real deal. Great size and play well together as a team.

Move them up in the Class 3 rankings

Dint forget they lost to California...so can we agree that Clever would lose to every other ranked team and Whitfield is the best team in class 3?

I’d never agree on that about any ranked team because so much depends on matchups and who does or does not come to play in any given game. Clever not having their 6’1 post against Skyline hurt them because Skyline was able to throw a junk D at them to slow down Clevenger knowing that the fifth girl in there for them was a non scorer and they needed her size for D and rebounding.

That said, Clever will be playing a lot of ranked teams coming up and they will have to win a good portion of them to justify their ranking, whether they are third or tenth. They have their big back now, she played today, so we’ll see...

Watched that game and they are HUGE and was a match up nightmare for skyline.

Junk D? what's that mean? They seemed to not guard a girl that night because she don't shoot the ball at all. Is that junk D or smart coaching? That said no doubt clever not having a big hurt some and it may be different later this year when they play again but to say it's junk is crazy.

That was my thought. Not sure how it’s “junk D”....

Depends on your definition of "junk d". My definition is that it is a combination of man to man and zone. Skyline had one girl playing zone and guarding the basket only, leaving a non scoring Clever girl open if she was outside, while the others played man to man.

It was a smart decision by the Skyline coach. He's a really good coach. It's why so many girls players and their families move into that district to play there, especially from nearby districts

Shoot I thought it was for academic reasons lol!

wait... you are saying that about Skyline or Clever because didn't the twins/triplets transfer from a Kickapoo Junior High to Nixa to Clever all for basketball reasons?

Come on man...you should also comment on Strafford if you want to insinuate public schools recruiting....

You keep bringing up Clever, even in threads that aren't even originally about them.

The moves were made for a variety of reasons, including financial, academic, and social ones. One can see how people like you might see it your way I guess, but unless you're 100% privvy to what the family has been through or the financial and other reasons involved, you just don't know, do you?

What do you know about Strafford?

Why is Clever getting so much attention on here? Razzy and Hoopsquad going back and forth. Plenty of other good teams to talk about. I guess that is what makes competition fun. Carl Junction had a solid win over Kickapoo yesterday. They are a very impressive team.

Look at who started the thread and what teams this thread is supposed to be about. I'm TRYING to discuss all the teams but Hoopsquad keeps bringing up Clever and trying to make it personal.

Carl Junction, Rolla and West Plains are all killer Class 4 teams. Not sure which teams have to go through who but I believe that at least two of them could make the Final Four.

Bolivar girls beat Tipton last night , a very good win for a Bolivar team that does not have a great record over a state ranked Class 2 team with a girl who is going to Columbia College. Lexi Berry scored 37 for Bolivar. I had no idea she was that good, but now I know.

There is no chance CJ, Rolla and West Plains could all make the Final 4. 2 of them can't even make the Final 4. CJ and WP will play in the sectional round and the winner will play Rolla in the quarterfinal.

Thanks for looking that up, I didn’t know.

So let’s hear some fearless predictions... which one of those 3 makes the FF?

On top of it all, the winner of all that gets Incarnate Word in the semifinal.

If you look at comparison scores, there is not much difference between the 3. West Plains had a game with Republic cancelled last week which was too bad because CJ just beat Republic the week before. Rolla and CJ both have beaten Kickapoo is close games.

Skyline plays man ALL the time I assure you. Just cause the girl that dont shoot doesn't move very far doesn't mean they are playing zone. I also here a lot about clever being down a girl that game due to concussion but I here nothing about Skyline having a starter out as well with a broken foot. So was clever playing junk D too? I just don't know if JUNK is a word for a defense that kept clever down

It appears that you're offended by the word "junk", so I'll just say that they had Barb defending the basket especially when Clevenger had the ball and drove. She was assigned to guard the least lethal offensive player Clever had on the court most of the time and she rarely went out to guard said player if they were outside but instead opted to stay by the basket and was able to help when Clevenger drove to the rim. I've seen it on video, at least twice, and it was good strategy, kudos to Skyline for using it. They are a good team and they deserved to win that game. There will be a rematch and Skyline could very well win again if Clever doesn't make adjustments.

Skyline DOES play man defense only. Its what the best coaches in the area teach, instead of being scared and sitting in a zone like soooo many other teams do. Zone is what I consider “junk”!!! Just because a team actually guards your players instead of just sitting there letting you shoot, does not mean it ls junk. Clever should get used to it, Skyline has had players quit and is down this year and STILL won easily. Absence of the big did not matter in this game. Hoops, why are you so concerned with Strafford?? They get plenty of hate and now you mention recruiting?? For a team with one returning starter, they have done well and have their own share of injuries. Why dont you share what you think you know since you seem anxious to mention it....

Good win yes but that said Tipton isn't that impressive from what I've seen and does play pretty weak schedule

Agreed, that's the only time I've seen Bolivar play but that had to be the best game they've played all year from looking at their schedule and results.

Tipton has a pretty good freshman that plays alongside of CC-bound Backes

As for West Plains, Rolla and Carl Junction... I'm taking West Plains over Rolla and Carl Junction over West Plains. Arguments can be made any which way, that's just my fearless prediction. Make the games happen... and they should if there are no upsets in districts and/or sectionals.

Carl junction and West Plains would have to play first.

West plains and Carl Junction will play first. The winner will met Rolla if all three make it? Last year Carl junction and West Plains both got beat? Would be some great match ups that is for sure.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm still taking Carl Junction in both games if they happen. I'm not betting against Katie Scott. That said, the CJ guards will have to handle the WP pressure effectively or it will go their way.

If WP wins, I'm taking them over Rolla as well.

But again, it's extremely close between the three teams and hard to argue with any prediction or prognosis.

Rolla turbo clocked WP last year and have the same team. Their size will be too much for the Zizzer zone.

Rolla has the best 5, CJ has the best player and WP has the zone...sucks that only 1 can advance..

Rolla has a young coach but who wins the coaching battle between CJ and WP..two of the best in the biz there...

From a travel ball parent that frequented the now deceased The Courts:
Strafford added a Magic player from Catholic that started two years and played a major role in the success of that team. Other girls from that Magic group were openly recruited also. Parents talk.. They also added a VB player from Kickapoo that played club with Strafford's standout player. How do those transfers get approved? What does it take to get a transfer approved? I remember Kickapoo boys getting denied a transfer several years ago and Hillcrest getting a transfer approved around the same time that both seemed fishy.

West Plains seems better this yr and were only 18-10 last yr. 16-1 so far this season....

And I'm not convinced that Rolla is better this yr than last, especially offensively, even though they have most everyone back. For whatever reason their scores are down, but along with that I'm sure they are playing better D.

Rolla could win, but that's my basis for picking WP to beat them. The two teams play each other on February 6th so that'll give us some insight.

If there is a full family move, MSHSAA will almost always approve transfers.

Rolla has beaten 2 of the 4 teams that beat them last year. Sullivan and Kickapoo. Jeff City was still a loss but went from losing by 40 to losing by 8. Rock Bridge their other loss was a new pick up for them but also a top ranked 5A team. They also went to the Kickapoo tourney over the Fatima tourney this year which they played better teams and still went 3-0. I would agree they were struggling to score early with a new coach and new offence, but offensively they are starting to click and defensively they are better. Should be a great game at West Plains but I think Rolla will still come out with the win:)

Sounds reasonable to me, I don't have any bias towards either team, I hope they both do well, but you can only pick one team to win :D

There are a lot of rules regarding transfers. You are right, parents do talk, I hear it all the time. Usually, they are pissed that their perfect child did not win state so they try to throw dirt on everyone else. The Magic player you refer to came because her dad got a job at Strafford. Let me back up, he didnt get the job, but the person who got the job later turned it down to accept a job in a district she preferred. It was only after she turned it down that the job was offered to the next person on the list. Thats how she got there. Not exactly recruited but who could blame her when she could choose between Strafford and Catholics shell of a program. The vball player changed residence. Legal moves. Just like Hartville 4 years ago, like Kickapoo 4 years ago. Happens all the time. There are currently a ton of players in the Ozarks who have moved schools- they say it's not for sports reasons, but the school they went to JUST HAPPENS to be where their summer team teammates go.

Where there is smoke there is fire... why was her initial transfer denied and appeal granted? Why was she telling her coach and teammates she was above them and was going to win state titles with the twins?
Hartville boys program is dirty. Not dora dirty but still dirty.
