I just have to give the Domers their due nowadays. I think they have been overrated for so long that recently they have probably been if anything underrated.
Except they're not.
2014 went from 17 to NR
2013 went from 14 to 21
2012 NR to 4 (we all know how that worked out) This is the one time in 10 years they bettered their 'rating'.
2011 16 to NR
2010 NR to NR
2009 23 to NR
Source doesn't have 2008 and 2007. 2008 they were 7-6 and 2007 they were 3-9
2006 2 to NR
2005 20 to NR
Sorry but I like things to be factual.

And for good reason! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC!...............That conference just consistently gets the benefit of the doubt!
Not talking about the same thing. By and large ND's schedule with the exception of 2-3 games (Michigan, USC) through the 1980's was a bunch of softies and then for most of the history they skipped the bowl games.
At least nowadays they play a pretty tough schedule and no FBS schools and don't skip the bowl game. They are 4-1 with a loss by 2 at Clemson and are ranked 15th. In the same place 25 years ago they are probably still being voted in the top 10.
Who on ND's schedule can be considered a legit national title contender? I know you want their schedule to be considered tough because they played OU a couple of times but as long as they keep navy, purdue, wake forest, temple, pitt, bc, etc on there that's not a tough schedule. USC isn't the team of Carroll's time. Stanford? Lost to NW. Sometimes they're good. Last year...not so much. Texas is horrible. UVA? GT was good last year. UMass? Clemson is up and down. Poorly coached(tennesee-ish) Pitt? Hugh Green ain't playin man.BC? Umm..no?
You are right that they get ranked too high. If you look at your teams preseason vs postseason rankings they're very similar.

ND, even with the injuries to the QB, is the best ND team I've ever seen.
Yeah when Notre Dame made that schedule they knew Texas would be down USC wouldn't be a title contender Stanford Would not be a top 20 team. I think the SEC is down I think Alabama's still the best team in that league and everybody else is chasing them. I think Missouri is average this year Auburn Tennessee South Carolina Arkansas Mississippi State I'm not sold use that great and Georgia can't win a big game to save their life. Has LSU played a big team yet at all for their lofty hype!
Who on anyone's schedule can be considered s national champion contender? Everyone sucks and they always have.
I have to bash Mizzou in every thread but I once claimed I was an MU fan./QUOTE]
You make it all too easy. Rag on NDs schedule, yet MU beat ZERO ranked teams to win their SEC Least title. ZERO
Yet they still didn't get completely butt stomped and exposed in the postseason. Quite the contrary in fact.
Amazing how that works out. Rankings are so awesome. What was OU ranked to start last year?

I'm not following ya on the postseason thing
Let me see if I can follow the logic. Ole miss is overrated because they beat Alabama (who is undoubtedly a good team) but lost to a team that is undefeated but maybe shouldn't be?Notre Dame played poorly and still only lost by two points if they were in the SEC they'd be in the top 10. Lol
Look at how far Ol Miss jumped after they beat Alabama then they absolutely got their butts kicked by Florida who Tennessee should've beat! That conference just consistently gets the benefit of the doubt! that's just the way I see it.
Funny, that wasn't the narrative last season. Usc, Texas a&m, Arkansas, and Tennessee were all the "hot teams" going into their game with mizzou. Of course, mizzou won all those games, so naturally those teams suck. Oh, and they soundly beat a "good" big 10 team in a bowl.MU won the SEC East last year without beating a single ranked team. #championships

To think mizzou wasn't good last year is asinine
Did FSU play in the playoffs? I'm not sure you can count that pathetic showing as 'playing'.Yeah they got completely butt stomped in the regular season. I'm sorry did MU play in the playoffs?
Asinine is running your mouth about an undefeated FSU team, when MU got stomped by Georgia and lose to Indiana.
FSU got turboed by the team that got ROLLED by OSU...that just got by Bama IIRC.
Just getting to the game only to get TURBO clocked means you didn't belong.

It means you don't belong in the championship game. FSU was the defending national champ and was undefeated going into the playoff. Regardless of how the playoff went they deserved to be there and get stomped more than anyone.
If Ohio st continues to struggle but wins every game they will belong in the playoff this year.
Huh, didn't think I mentioned FSU.Asinine is running your mouth about an undefeated FSU team, when MU got stomped by Georgia and lose to Indiana.

Confusing, because you directly referenced my post while foaming at the mouth about FSU. A good inference would be that you're talking to me.Well Mensa boy, I don't think I was talking to you before your last post that quoted me, was I?
Veer, do you realize these schedules are made years in advance? Not sure you have figured that out. You try and downplay ND's schedule but totally ignore Mizzou's garbage non-conference and depleted SEC LEAST schedule. Both years they have won the SEC LEAST, the division has be AWFUL. Last year they won the division without beating one single team in the Top 25. Got pasted by Georgia at home and lost to low end BIG 10 team in Indiana.
ND's schedule is as tough as anybody's. Can't help what teams do vs. other opponents. There are zero cupcakes like SEMO, Ark St., UCONN on there. They will never play a D 1AA team like other teams
For somebody that thinks ND is garbage you sure like to talk about them a lot. You are little obsessed. Must of got rejected from school there or something.
