The year was 2004 and 2005 when the Poplar Bluff Mules was coached by John David Pattillo and won two class 5 state championships. The Mules had one of the largest following I've seen for a Missouri high school team. It was nothing to see near a thousand Poplar Bluff fans follow the Mules for games in St. Louis, Columbia or other locations. NBA player Tyler H and his brother Ben were the big stars for the Mule team. This team was good, exciting and won two state championships.
After reading the above, a new player with a national name has enrolled as a freshman @ Poplar Bluff high school. Yes indeed, 6'4" freshman Marcedus Leech has the reputation and talent to do the same thing as Tyler and Ben H. did for the Poplar Bluff Mules. Marcedus Leeach is already attracting high level D-1 basketball coaches across the United States. The freshman basketball phenom is a combo guard compared to NBA players James Harden and Kevin Durant when they were in the 8th grade.
The Poplar Bluff Mules defeated DeSoto last night 65-34 @ DeSoto and Marcedus did not disappoint according to one of my friend and confidant who attended the game. You can check Marcedus Leech out on " You Tube " to get a better understanding what has enrolled @ Poplar Bluff high school and what lies ahead for coach William Durden and his Mule team.
Class 5 district 1 is not a difficult district to win and the Poplar Bluff Mules could get things started in 2016 to pave the way for the future. St. Louis Confidant tells me there is a story behind the freshman phenom's enrollment @ Poplar Bluff high school.
