So long Derek

Cards looking for a new approach for pitching coach.

"Mozeliak said that they want to rethink the strategy of pitching use and have a pitching coach that is open to the data available and some modern views of how pitchers should be deployed."

Sounds like the rest of the staff will probably be back.

They can fire every coach on the staff and bring in the best of the best like Mr. Trump. If MM doesn't listen to them it will make no difference.

I've said all season this pitching coach ain't getting it done. Guys have NOT gotten better under him, not in season and not year to year.I don't know what it means to use the data and modern views on ho to use pitchers. That's a little scary, it makes me think they will go even more crazy over numbers crunching instead of improving their pitchers abilities. We may a 10 man bullpen all year long.

It has been reported by writers and talked about by the talking heads, but there is always a chance that it is fake news.
My dad always told me not to believe everything you hear or read and when it's me delivering the message I would say that is especially true.

I supposed I've missed all of that. I don't remember hearing that MM always ignored DL's input. I'd like to read some of that. Not just how bad MM is with the pitching staff but that he repeatedly ignored what DL thought they should do. I'm not saying he did or didn't. I have no idea because I've not read it.

It is very strange. But hey, at least you don't have Dusty or Terry Collins.

That's about the only positive spin I can give you
I think that same thing every time the Birds play the Mets or Nats. And then drool when we play the Cubs or Bucos or Padres. Just to name a few.

I think you might see Dave Martinez make the jump to manager soon too. I have a feeling he ends up in Philly. I hope he does. The guy has put in the work for a shot
