$3 million or so was too much for his contribution. The Cards have gotten some mileage out of cheap young guys. Hopefully others can step in and continue the success.
Looks like they used that money to sign RH reliever Belisle to a one year deal. Not sure why they need a 34 year old reliever with an ERA of nearly 5 but they got him. Still no starter added to the mix.
