Since its tumbleweeds in here...Marcus Peters trade?

Youre darn right its tumbleweeds around this place! The Doc Guys try to provide some spark, but its dead around here!
We need to have the Annual Bosko Pool and Poker Tournament down at the pool hall again. We can talk about what Walnut Heights has coming up, and maybe review the 8th grade list of personnel for Ampipe. Might to be to do better recruiting at the 6th and 7th grade levels.

I think the Peters trade is OK. He is a really good pass defender - but he doesn't tackle anybody. They were going to lose him in a year so I think its OK to get rid of him now. Plus he's a jerk.

Yikes, but only got a 2 and 4!

There are 11 players that had as many interceptions as Peters...that's good. What's bad is that all the other ten had WAY MORE tackles and assists...11th in tackles and low in assisted tackles...i mean dead last by a long way. So we might have some hype hear based on the interceptions...but I saw him whiff a LOT on tackles. And the numbers prove it. Overrated.

I would say that sort of validates the reasons he was traded. Regardless of his tackling or lack of stats, if he wasn't such a pain in the butt someone would have ponied up for his cover skills (which he has some of the best in the league).

Marcus Peters: too much distraction and discontent vs. field play?
PETERS - likely a top 5 cover corner in the NFL, yet the CHIEFS are willing to get rid of him early. The NFL - a league that totally knows the value of a top tier cover corner, yet all they could get was, apparently, a 2nd & 4th rounders. I know the Chiefs are not the, the Cowboys (because 20 years ago they were good) but they are not so stupid as to take the smallest amount offered, I am sure they would take the most offered from any team outside of AFC West. It seems that M Peters was possibly a lot bigger problem in practice, meetings, locker room etc. that anyone outside of the immediate team is aware of. Peters hardly even tries to tackle, he does get beat some, IMO, just not worth it. There is a lot more to being a great defender than taking the ball away. (although those take-a-ways are helpful.). / / As for me, I am old and old school. I do not like players "working their brand", I do not like players drawing attention to themselves. In fact, I would also see what I could get for Travis Kelce and Eric Berry. I would restructure Justin Houston or cut ties with him too. (Kelce - trade him for starting Offensive Lineman or Defensive Lineman and a draft pick. - Berry - same, get an excellent Lineman, do not care which side of the ball just a good lineman and a draft pick.)

Watching the whiffs and seeing the difference between him in the other backs in terms of tackles and assists...I mean he isn't even in the ballpark with those other corners/DBs and safeties in terms of tackling ability. The numbers are atrocious.

Where do you see these comparable stats?

Get rid of Kelci? WTH? I hated it. Fuller is good, but so was Peters. Attitude, sure. Very young type A personality, they want to win. Zero off the field problems. These youngins might not remember the days of old, Deron Cherry, Albert Lewis and Kevin Ross but we could of had that with Peters, Fuller and a healthy Berry. As far as Peters tackling or miss tackling. Kinda our thing, look at DJ. I bet 60% of his tackles were just lowering a shoulder, none of them wrap up. GOD so frustrating to see us hit a RB even a QB behind the LOS and they just go right on by cause we don't wrap up. I hope we get some players with bad intentions which he haven't had since maybe Dale Carter. Regardless a shut down secondary increases sacks which we need and makes the dlines job easier. Hated getting rid of Smith for a maybe, may be good may not be, I hate getting rid of Peters and oh hell no they ain't getting rid of Kelci.

2018: 1 INT and 20 Tackles (Probably good for the Chiefs to have this below average performing cancer somewhere else.)

He's actually got 29 tackles and 1interception which is above his average in tackles through 9 games in KC. Regardless, how many passes has he defended? Hard to get picks when the ball is going to the opposite side of the field. Kids numbers for his first three years were the best in the NFL for the last 20 years. We rank 32nd in Defense against the pass. In case you don't know, that's last. What makes that really weird, we are tied for first in sacks so it's not a pressuring the QB problem it's a we can't cover problem! So yes I would still like to have Peters. Fuller may be the slowest defender on the entire team...

He got burned for a lot of yards vs. the Aints. AND NO, he has 20 solo tackles. 9 assists.

AND FYI: Points per game, the Chiefs are ranked #16 in the NFL in defense. The only stat that really matters. They are only a couple points per game away from being in the top 10. Their average margin vs. opponent is #1 in the NFL.
