Cape Notre Dame may love Springfield basketball tournaments the way Sikeston loves coming to St. Dominic and the Zumwalt North tournament.

Cape Notre Dame defeated Sullivan 50-41, Springfield Catholic 52-39 and Helias 49-47 in Mid-Mo. I have this feeling " They will never want to leave ". It reminds me of Sikeston, when they found the St. Dominic and Zumwalt North Tournaments, It will take an act of " The Missouri State Congress to get Sikeston out the above two 6 wins a year tournament for the Bulldogs. Sikeston has won 20 of 21 games @ Dominic and undefeated since they found paradise @ Zumwalt North.

Yes indeed, Cape Notre Dame has found a home in Springfield and will " Never want to leave ". In fact, I'm betting Notre Dame made it known to the tournament officials how happy they were to be in Springfield and wants to be invited back next year to defend their championship.

I just got off the phone with Coach Holifield and the Sikeston AD. They agree with you, metro. The local/state competition is just too easy. Please see the following press release...

Sikeston has accepted an invitation to play in the Maui Classic against some top college teams (Kentucky, Villanova et al). Coach Holifield feels we need to strengthen the schedule. Nothing like a few losses to get the team gelling together. As a matter of fact, early lines indicate the host team, Chaminade (Hawaii), is only a 3 point favorite. Look for the Dogs to surprise some people in that tourney.

Also, the Dogs will be participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden against St. John's next year.

Finally, the Dogs are getting out of the SEMO Conference and joining the OVC. With the uptick in schedule strength, the Dogs will be ready for the postseason.

Rocket and mfloyd, I will be @ Chaminade next Tuesday however my wife was going to attend but after reading my comments on Sikeston, she has changed her mind.

Rocket, ask any coach about who they pick on the most. The answer will be " The one I care about the most. " Do you think I comment on Sikeston because I care about them and want the Bulldogs in big games? Rocket, public opinion is on my side concerning playing a big schedule if you have the talent to compete and I believe Sikeston with Fred Thatch and Holi does. Sikeston has four " Clock Jobs " in their first 11 games and has a winning margin of 20.1 per game. If you place this information in a computer or well informed basketball people, the results will be Sikeston has a great team or the schedule is weak. Rocket and others, which is it?

Rocket, do you believe Cape Norte Dame has found a home in Springfield?

Metro....your opinion and public opinion doesn't make what you say a fact. It is just that...an opinion.

When the Dogs won a state title in 2011, their margin of victory was 20+. They were 30-0. Should they have scheduled Duke, the Lakers or someone else just to get a "big game?" It is the opinion of the folks that matter that Sikeston's schedule is just fine. Based on their track record, winning percentage, experience, etc....I'll defer to them.

Regarding Notre Dame....I have no idea. You will have to ask a Notre Dame person.

I don't blame your wife for not wanting to go Tuesday....you've already got the score and outcome determined.

I trust our coaching staff to prepare the team and I trust our kids to show up and compete. We will see how the game turns out starting Tuesday at 6 PM.

By the way....does Chaminade typically have a large crowd? Should we get to the gym really early?

Rocket, When Chaminade plays SLUH, CBC or DeSmet, the wait time is two hour or more. I can not predict how the crowd will be on Tuesday. I believe the doors open one hours before game time. I not sure I have made a prediction on the Sikeston@ Chaminade game however it will be difficult for the 10-1 Bulldogs to win this road game. Fred Thatch will be one of the best players on the floor. The tuition for a five day boarding student @ Chaminade is around $ 37,000.00 per year. A 7 day boarding student is around $ 38,000.00. Students can enroll @ Chaminade in the 6th grade. They have students from all over the world with most enrolling for the education.

The success of Brad Beal, David Lee, Jayson Tatum and others appears to have created interest from a few sports minded athletes from other area of the USA and the world.

Look for Chaminade to press and shoot the 3 against the Dogs. We must remember pressing teams do not like to be pressed. If both teams are pressing, this could be a " Run and shoot game " with the best athletes and the best bench winning. I look forward to seeing this high scoring affair. Chaminade coach Frank Bennett has only been a head coach for 3 years but he has only been beaten one time by Missouri teams.

Why do you want Sikeston to get out of the St. Dominic tourney?

Why do you want Sikeston to get out of the St. Dominic tourney?

Bucket, The teams @ St. Dominic are not on the same level as a Sikeston. The Bulldogs have been favored in all games for 7 consecutive Years. Most teams want to play in 16 team tournament @ Christmas. The St. Dominic Christmas usually has only has 3-4 teams with winning records.

Train will you be @ Chaminade tonight? If so, Get there around 5:00 PM however I'm not sure about the crowd. Chaminade may be looking past Sikeston, This may be the prefect time to get a big upset.
Train, Sikeston appears to be favored in all of their scheduled and tournament games this season except tonight @ class 5 Chaminade. This is a big big test for the Bulldogs.

It is my understanding, 3rd year coach Frank Bennett is worried about Fred Thatch. Train, don't feel sorry for Frank Bennett, he's only lost one game in three years to Missouri competition.

SEMO Conference Cape Central plays @ 5-7 DeSmet tonight @ 7:00 PM.

So what. Why do you care? What has that got to do with you? What is your affiliation with Sikeston?
