Rick Ray has 3 years of head coaching experience @ Mississippi State. Rick Ray was fired on 3-21-15 and appears to be interested in the SEMO basketball position. The former coach from Mississippi State gained valuable experience during his three years as head coach.

The next SEMO head basketball coach could be Tim Fuller who has served a the top asst to Kim Anderson. Isaac Chew, TJ Cleveland and Lew Hill who have served as asst. coaches in big basketball schools but never an a top asst.

I believe Rick Ray will be SEMO'S top choice with Tim Fuller as their next choice if Rick Ray can not come to terms on salary.

So why doesn't Mizzou have great recruits if Fuller is such a prize?

If you're talking about Ray, yes he's a candidate still on their radar. if you're talking about Fuller, then no, he is not a candidate and has not been since the Final 4.

Why would SEMO hire someone who has no head coaching experience

Lew Hill, TJ Cleveland and Isaac Chew have been sitting two seats down from the the head coach. I believe one seat down from the head coach would have a better chance for early success then a lower asst coaches. Being a head coach is whole different thing then being an asst coach.

Let's take a look @ Missouri coach Kim Anderson. Kim Anderson will be a much improved head coach this year then his " Rookie Season as a head coach. " Improvement will come in the form of 1. Hiring asst coaches, 2. Recruiting players, 3. Practice and game coaching. If you believe the above, it would be better to hire an experienced coach then betting on the come.

Hiring a head basketball coach @ the D-1 level appears to be difficult if the University does not have the funds to attract the top coaches in the country. Let's use the present Missouri Athletic Director, Some would argue he missed on 1. Quin Snyder, 2. Mike Anderson, 3. Frank Haith and now 4. Kim Anderson however I will not make this argument.

The current AD at Mizzou didn't have anything to do with hiring those coaches.

Mike Alden will resign his Athletic Director's position on August 31, 2015

The current Athletic Director @ Missouri is Mike Alden and has been since 1998. Mack Rhoades will be taking over the Athletic Director's position @ Missouri on September 1, 2015.

My bad, with all the talk about the "new" AD I thought he was on the job. If he's not why all the talk about him and why is he even called the new AD?

always liked Rick Ray

I always found Ricky Ray to be a pretty good guy to deal with. We had a lot of contact with him when Indiana State was recruiting Dane Brumagin back on 2004. Hope he lands the SEMO job.

Red I saw the SEMO AD on the Cape sports last night talking about the jobs he has to fill and their graphic the screen still had Fulller on it so I guess you need to tell them he isn't a candidate because their own local sports guys haven't got the word on that either.
