When I entered the Mehlville campus, I saw a sign advertising the " Water Polo " Match. ( Nothing on tonight basketball game ) Before entering the gym to see the basketball game. I ask a principal how to get to the Water Polo match, he replied @ the other end of the campus. I told the principals, I was just kidding, When does the Junior Varsity basketball game start. He told me there will be no Junior Varsity game tonight. I ask the principal, " Where is the admission table, He said we don't charge for basketball games. I entered a very quite gym and had my choice of almost any seat in the gym.
I did not understand why more people was not @ the game then I realized nobody cares except a very few and me of course. The cheering section had about 25 kids but most were on their cell phone and had very little interest in the basketball game.
Melhlville 17-7 has a good team with two next level players and the other roster players are not bad. The game started with Cape Central having a very good game plan and the Tigers were on top of their game during the first half both offensively and defensively. Cape hit most of their free throws. Lots of them.
Cape--------19--15--10--17----Final--64
Mehlville----15--4---21--19----Final--59
Mehlville had two unstoppable players in the seven footer and the 6'7" player. Mehlville just could not get the ball inside enough because of the strong defensive play of Cape Central.
With 4 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, Mehlville called a time out down by 3 points. The trick was Mehlville had no time outs. The game ended with cape winning by 5 points. It appears to me if the Tigers play as well as they did tonight, they will be very difficult to beat in districts.
