Saw on moteachingjobs that the Scott County Central basketball job was listed. Where did the previous coach go or what is going on there? Metro, u got any info through your SEMO connections?

The Scott County Central basketball position is not as attractive as in the past. The two reasons given are.

1. Sikeston is no longer signing off on transfer without moving to the Scott Country District.
2. It's being reported that Delta high school maybe getting another 8th grader from SCC. This is legal if anyone enrolls before school starts his or her freshman year in high school. Look for Delta high school to be a player in class 1 for the next few years.

The hook is in the water on why the SCC basketball coach is not returning.

Anything to do with the principal at Delta?

Since SCC and Delta have membership with the MSHSAA in the 7th and 8th grade, it would not be wise to have open communication with a student-player who is presently playing with a MSHSAA school.

It appears the MSHSAA has two enrollment periods when a school has membership in the 7th and 8th grade.

1. A student must enroll before their 7th grade year starts but could also enroll before their 9th grade year. ( without moving into the district )

If a school does not have have a 7th and 8th teams regulated by the MSHSAA, A student could enroll before their 9th grade year.

Could someone like Bones check the above out. Bones keeps up with things like the above.

Essex-Richland is taking application for a basketball coach and could be ready to interview and maybe hire an ex-Richland basketball coach. This is in the rumor stage only.

Metro, do you know who is the principal at Delta and his SCC connections? Not accusing anyone of anything. Just wondering.

I have checked with my sources in the SEMO. It is confirmed, not only does David Heeb keep a copy with him @ all times, he sleeps with a copy under his pillow to ensure maximum information retention. I am told he views this paper the way a defensive coordinator views his squad late in a football game up a touchdown - "bend but don't break" boys. The new boys coach at the Delta school district will be the one to show a copy of the MSHSAA rules to the interview committee.

Metro I spent the day yesterday in what I believe was the old Marston High School gym. Some interesting pics from the fifties etc. What history can you provide on the school

I believe, and correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the principal in question is now Super... He's at least principal and if there are SCC players to be had, he will have them just like at Bell City. He doesn't just poach SCC kids, the big 6'11" kid he had at Bell City is from Charleston.

The fired Scott County Central coach will be returning back to Essex-Richland for next season. Richland has three starters back. Administrator David Heeb @ Delta appears to have an inside track on future 7th and 8th graders @ SCC who may have interest in enrolling @ Delta. If these rumors are true, Delta could be the next power in class 1 in SEMO. This could hurt future small school powers like Risco and Advance advancing out of Southeast Missouri districts and sectionals.

The rumor mills has it Charleston and Cape Central will replace Sikeston as the team to beat in the SEMO Conference. Sikeston was hit hard to graduation and Class 3 Charleston and class 4 Cape Central have bidding stars returning however the Sikeston Die- Hards say " wait a minute ", We will overachieve and be in the running for the SEMO Conference and a class 4 district championship.

I hope the rumors aren’t true about Delta/SCC. If so, the Delta administrator whom you’re speaking of may have trouble again with the MSHSAA.

TJ, Delta is not breaking any MSHSAA rules if these 8th graders enroll before the first day of school this fall. The public schools have the same rules as the privates schools on enrollments. Charleston 8th graders could move to Sikeston or Delta and play immediately and not move into the Sikeston or Delta districts.

I realize that, Metro. But that won’t stop people (like myself), from wondering if there’s any “undue influence” going on.

What 8th graders are you talking about? SCC 7th and 8th teams were way down this year. Both had losing seasons.

Look, he’s gonna be poaching players again. We all know it. Delta has been not good at basketball for a long time. If they get good from players nobody in town has ever heard of we will know exactly why.

The 8th grader in question parents lived or graduation @ Delta, they are home sick away from the SCC-Sikeston area. The next clue is the SCC 8th grader is related to someone who has pull with the Delta district. All legal, no recruiting going on. It's a home sick deal.

Delta can win with players who could not play @ a high level, like Charleston, and Cape Central.
