Savannah Mascot Name and Logo in trouble?

The worst mascot I’ve ever heard was the Pekin Chinks. Thankfully, it was changed to Dragons several years ago. Savages is a pretty brutal team mascot.

My grandaughter mentioned about Savannah tonight and I told her about Pekin.
When Ste, Gen started girls athletics, their original nickname Headhunters.

At one time, I had a golf ball from their booster club golf tourney. Legitimately was a sumo looking character. I was surprised, and that takes a lot. That Illinois region brought about some dandy nicknames.

I’ll give 50c to the person who can tell me what the mascot was for the headhunters.

And one of my all time favorites was the Effingham Flaming Hearts...I mean you had to walk out to an 80’s ballot with that mascot....Much more exciting than the neighboring Tetopoulis(so?) Wooden Shoes...

Was kinda a cross between Betty Ruble and the mom from the Trolls if memory serves. Were definitely the Headhunters when I was in school. Funny thing, never thought twice about it. It's almost like, back 25+ years ago we (as a society) actually worried about the things that one actually needed to be worried about.

Have a buddy that teaches at Cape Central that was a proud Flaming Heart! I remember not believing him when he told us...I spent the first ten years of my life in Anna, right down the road from the Apple Knockers in Cobden. Again, never thought twice about it. I always had dreams of being a Wooden Shoe from Teutopolis. Sadly, I just grew up a Warrior (is that even PC these days???) and a Blackcat. :(

There was also a Little Dixie Conference. I think it started it 1954 with Harrisburg, Hallsville, Sturgeon, Ashland, Auxvasse and St. Brendans. It lasted at least until the late 70s with other schools such as Madison, Higbee, Renick, Community and both North and South Calloway in and out.

Up until 2006 when Southern Boone and Hallsville started football up. Smaller schools went else where, the larger ones formed the Mid-MO until the Tri-County raided it.

.....The Mexico marching band has always been "Mexico DIXIE GRAY marching band"..... Looks like that will be changed soon..
FYI this area has always been known as Little Dixie and a nearby state park lake carries that name today...
Changing times..........C =|~

The town I'm originally from is home to the "Confederate Memorial State Historic Site" and includes confederate soldiers graves.

Better hurry back, dig em up, and burn it all to the ground!!! Cancel culture unite!

Am I doing this right?

....Just how far can we expect this foolishness to go..!

Most likely WHITE CASTLE and CRACKER BARREL will be changing their names to something more in line with todaze culture...

It was a girl who looked like "Pebbles" on the old Fintstone's show...

I never understood why girls had a different nickname than the boys. Strange. Of course in HS we joked about the meaning of that name........

I'd like to know how some names of Texas schools are still around... Herford Whitefaces and Frisco Fighting Coons.

City boys, a Hereford is also know as a whiteface because it, duh, has a whiteface.
Note, when mixed with an Angus bull. they become black whiteface, as the body is no longer brown, but now black, and the the face is white.
