Rosenthal WHIP now right at 2 for the season

Isn't that good for a closer??? Two runners per inning. He's effing Bad Ryan Franklin with more velocity right now. Give the ball to Oh in the 9th until Rosenthal can locate a GD fastball. Hard to get MLB hitters out on the reg when you have zero clue where the ball is going to end up after it leaves your hand. Any other Cub at the plate last night other than Heyward, and that game goes the other direction.

Side note...What a great baseball game! And my feelings for Lackey are reaching Jeff Weaver territory. Albeit for a different reason. Man, I miss that guy.

The Cubs are having a magical season. That ball bounced off the wall directly into Bryant's throwing hand which is the only way they cut down Diaz. If the ump doesn't make the kick save on Rosenthals wild pitch, we would have been hearing that annoying Cubs song in our sleep.

Birds got crazy lucky there in two ways. Ump makes a kick save, and dude at 1B hits the snooze button instead of moving up as well. Very easily could've (and probably should've) been on 2B and 3B there. Then Heyward lunges and jams himself on a middle/middle fastball. Birds fans saw that a time or two last year. As much as I miss Lackey, I equally don't miss Heyward...I've got a feeling these next two games could get fun. Garcia tried to get Bryant once and missed, then elevated one to get him. I've got a feeling the elevation of that pitch might not be forgotten. Seriously though, there might not be a better atmosphere in all of sport than a night game at Wrigley between the Birds and Cubs when both are good (or sorta good in the case of the Birds).

Maybe you've noticed, but sometimes the decider isn't exactly the best at that whole deciding thing.

You mean like Wong's great jump and path to the ball on the ninth inning double? OMG what are we doing?

I didn't think the path or jump were awful...my biggest question is why was he where he was...two games ago it looked like they had his heels on the warning track. Which is where they should be until he learns how to read the ball off the bat in CF. But that ball was absolutely smoked too. Not even sure Bourjos catches that one :D.
